Olórin the maia once loved another lesser maia who served Nienna. They were the only maia couple to copulate and bear a child. This child was named ‘A’ (because I struggle with extra names) and he grew up to be among the wisest and talented magic users, so much so that when he traveled to Middle Earth , he opened up a portal to an alternate dimension and ended up coming to Earth. ‘A’ blended himself into this new world by disguising himself as a human, and later on he met a woman and fell in love with her. They married and had a child named Melinda. When Melinda was 10 years old, her mother died of sickness. Melinda and her father then traveled back to Middle Earth where the timeline was early in the Third Age. They sought refuge with Elrond in Rivendell. Melinda befriended Arwen who was close to her age. They spent years there, learning from the elves. At age 15, Melinda started training with swords, bows and arrows. She was put under Glorfindel’s tutelage. A year later she was allowed to observe an excursion of Rivendell’s patrol, but Mel was involved in a freak accident that traumatized her. She asked her father‘A’ to return to Earth for a while, and he conceded. They left a few months later, returning several hundred years ahead. Now a grown woman, and with an extra set of combat skills, Melinda resumed her training with Glorfindel until she was deemed ready enough for a trial patrol. Months later, Olórin known as Gandalf the Grey now came to Rivendell and reunited with his once-thought missing son. He also met his granddaughter Melinda for the first time, and remained there for a while. Another few months passed, Gandalf having left only to return in a hurry to enlist the help of his son ‘A’ on an investigation. They left Rivendell, and somewhere in their investigation were ambushed by Sauron’s ring wraiths. ‘A’ was fatally wounded and captured by the wraiths before they questionably retrieved. Gandalf went in pursuit of them but by the time he was able to track them they had already broken him. His body was grotesquely mutilated and an empty vessel at that point; ‘A’ had released his spirit and drifted to the Halls of Mandos. Gandalf was forced to return to Rivendell to break the news to Melinda. She was stricken with grief and took several months to recover. From that point on, she pledged to kill any servant of evil she came upon to avenge her father as well as aid the Free Peoples of Middle Earth in dark times, thus becoming a pupil of Gandalf who at times joining him on travels and handled solo work.
With a shadowed past that very few knew, Melinda came into Middle Earth by way of a portal that linked her world with Arda. Alatar the Blue Wizard had been the first to achieve such a powerful magic. He was transported into another dimension, and fell into Earth 1989. Clueless of the world around him, he feigned blending in, taking on a younger appearance and imitating the drabs of the common John Doe. He learned of the human and animal-only inhabiting world, and was astounded by the advancements that required no magic, but only craftsmanship and intellect. He explored, albeit cautiously, and learned many things. Then, he met a woman named Miriam. She wasn’t an ordinary woman by any means; he had been drawn to her magical essence; that’s when he discovered there were indeed mystics in that world, though far removed from public eye. Miriam too was drawn to him, as if they were magnets. First curious, they became colleagues in the art of magic, then friends, then lovers. It was a risk that Alatar had not thought much on, as while being a mystic, Miriam was still a mortal. They eventually got married and had a child, Melinda. She inherited both her parents’ mystical capabilities, as well as her father’s immortality for being half maia. Tragedy only followed the unfortunate family, as Miriam died in a freak accident that not even he could’ve hoped to save. Being human, he knew not where her soul would end up; not in the halls of Mandos surely, it was a different world. Heartbroken, and with an 11 year old daughter to care for, Alatar decided to bring Melinda into her inheritance, one she had shown signs of having at the age of 7. He kept her on Earth, trained her mind and body in whichever way possible, until he felt she was ready to travel to his own birth world. When she turned 16, they both went through the portal, right into East Middle Earth. He assumed is elderly appearance and a cult of familiar magic practitioners having begun by him soon came upon them and took them in. Melinda learned much from them, but it wasn’t long before the darkness began to take over the lands, and they had to flee. Alatar was caught in a battle with the wraiths, and could not escape with his life. A few trusted men helped Melinda escape into the Mid-Western parts of Middle Earth, when she eventually found Gandalf. He took her under his wing, trained her mind and powers for good, well until she reached adulthood. Melinda became an emissary of good deeds, doing most of her work back in the East with the remaining cults that refused to give into the evil of Sauron.
