My daughters’ seventh birthday party is this Sunday (their birthday is Tuesday). And we’re going all-out with the Star Wars theme that they requested. Tonight I did a test-run for their Vader cake. Eat up! May the fork be with you!

My children (age 5.5) are surfing on kid-safe music apps on my phone and just randomly landed on “Teenage Dream.” I am having an attack of feels.
A Moment of Mommy Kvelling
Last week, we were at shul (synagogue) on Shabbat (the sabbath; Saturday), and there was a bar mitzvah, so we stayed for lunch. During lunch, a friend (hereinafter referred to as "AMF" for "adult male friend") reported the following conversation he had with Muffin:Muffin (looking at a kid-friend's dress): I have that dress!AMF: I, do, too!Muffin: No you don't, you're a… an adult!AMF reported that it was clear that Muffin was first thinking "no, you're a boy," but then rejected it because we've talked numerous times with Muffin and Squeaker about how some boys wear skirts and some girls wear pants and some girls have short hair and some boys have long hair. So for her the most reasonable argument for why AMF didn't have a blue-and-white flowery dress like the one E-the-child-friend was wearing was that AMF is an adult.
My children have reached the age (not quite 5.5 years) at which they are reading fluently enough and voraciously enough that I need to hide my slash fic.
I'm not sure if I should be proud or scared.
