Texas redux, part 2

You should never have high expectations for a hike in a town that’s just a few hundred feet above sea level. That’s especially true when you’re from the highest elevated state in the country. In altitude, not medicinal herbal products.

The trail took us all of us five minutes to descend, and maybe a minute more to ascend back, to take us to the stairs that brought us up there in the first place.

On trying to explore Austin more we decided to make a journey out to Mt. Bonnell. It's a bit of a trip up a winding road but its well worth it. Once arriving you start your journey by walking up 102 steps - according to my children they are like 2 steps in 1 - but it only took like 2 minutes to walk up them. 

At the top there is a viewing platform with great views of Lake Austin and the hills. However, you can make a few different journeys on some trails. We decided to start off going left. This trail took us to see a great view of the Austin skyline and some of Lake Austin. There were also two different picnic tables over on this side.

We then went back to the center platform and took a small break before taking the trail to the right. This trail goes down a little bit farther than the right and gives many great views of Lake Austin and other parts of Austin. We really enjoyed this area and there were many spots to just stop and look around.
