Traveling with a Camera

There is something real unique about these apartments. They are located just north of The University of Texas of Austin.

Laguna Gloria is an art museum located in North Austin. There are quite a few art installations to view, but the best thing about this place is the building itself. Mimicking a villa, the building is surprisingly small yet spacious. The outside forest is also a delight to walk through.

Located close to Whole Foods, Treaty Oak is a unassuming tree with a lot of history. The tree is about 500 years old and has even survived an assassination attempt! The tree is where Native Americans made treaties and declared war hundreds of years ago.

Here are some kittens that are ready to be adopted! I found them at the Austin Pets Alive's PetCo booth.

The Texas Military History Museum was a surprisingly really great museum located in the heart of Camp Mabry. The museum is full of old vehicles, including a Sherman tank! There is an incredible World War I and World War II gallery filled with antique weapons, battle plans, and photos. There is also a Civil War gallery as well.

Behind the museum building is a parking lot full of tanks. A lot of them seem to have fallen into disrepair, but it is still pretty cool to see old and new tanks near one another.

Home Slice had their annual carnival and pizza eating competition on South Congress. There was a Santa on horseback and a lot of kids playing expensive-yet-fun carnival games. And yes, there was pizza.

The Aspen Institute, as part of their Aspen Across America tour, invited Michael Dell to come to UT to do a talk about entrepreneurship. Walter Isaacson was the moderator. The talk went from Mr. Dell's early life, his decision to quit college, the early years of his company, and the current challenges that technology can solve.

Last week Fujifilm and Drink and Click came together to hold a free photo event for photo enthusiast. The entire lineup of Fujifilm cameras and lenses were available to play with. Two models were there as well as photographic subjects. Although it rained in the end, the turnout was quite great and everyone seemed to have fun.

Yesterday the Hex Rally was held on the main mall at The University of Texas at Austin. With the roaring crowd of the band, football team, and cheer leading squad, students lit up red candles to put a curse on the schools rival: A&M University. This tradition has been held for over fifty years
