Western Teams Progress 💪 Western teams made strides, with G2 finishing in the top eight at Worlds and teams like FlyQuest and MKOI raising their international impact. Fearless Draft and more best-of series helped these teams grow under pressure, though the East-West gap remains a hurdle for long-term dominance. Gumayusi’s Redemption 🎮 T1 lifted the Summoner’s Cup in Chengdu, with Faker and a reborn Gumayusi leading the charge. Earning Finals MVP after an unpredictable season, Gumayusi now embarks on a new chapter with Hanwha Life Esports, giving fans on 닌자티비 a storyline to follow closely in 2026.

it's me, I'm bitches
So MSI happened
As the title says - MSI happned. I honestly cannot believe I got my predictions right in the last post. I didn't even remember what I predicted because I was already sleep deprived writing it then, and I proceeded to remain sleep deprived the entire time. (which is why no recap/post went up or will go up).
So... conclusions time For EWC: I'll start by noting the different format. MSI was all BO5 all of the time, which led to some very long and very enjoyably series. With ups and downs for each teams, both on-sided as well as competitive games, as well as different types of drafts and gameplay all in the same series. We got to see many teams stretch their abilities and endure complete 5 out of 5 games. EWC's format starts with B01 in the group stage, is mostly BO3 in the knockouts stage and only finals is a BO5. This will force the teams to go all out every game, with no saving a pick for later and maybe more creative pocket (counter) picks.
Now for my thoughts after MSI:
Who comes out of group stage? From group A the likely candidates are Flyquest and C9. I unfortunately don't believe enough in G2 to win against either in the losers bracket if they win against Furia. FQ are just very strong, the strongest western team right now for sure, and last time I saw C9 they were competitive against them which G2 were not. Group B should be spicier, with all three of GAM, CFO and HLE playing in it, but I still think there are two team who are likely to move to knockouts - HLE and CFO. CFO's form at MSI was great and I don't think MKOI or GAM will win against them in the lower bracket. Honestly I am not even sure they will end up down there because their first match is against HLE. I hope HLE used their time off to reset and work on whatever happened in that T1 series but we won't know until we see them on stage. Since these are a best of one, anything can happen, but this is what I believe would be the results.
Knockouts? I might write a post before each match just to sum up specific predictions regarding picks, final score etc. but for right now, GenG remain the strongest team, with T1 and AL close behind.
GenG, despite dropping nearly every first game in every match in this MSI (except for semifinals), still showcased their dominance throughout MSI. Yes, Chovy was quieter than usual in some games but that is not a bad thing. The team has 4 other great players that can each create and capitalize on opportunities in the game, Chovy shouldn't, nor does he need to be, the flashiest player on the rift every game. He's still the current best player in the world, even if he doesn't need to clutch every game.
T1, despite reaching finals and defeating AL and looking very strong as well, still showcased, at times, too much aggression, which their opponents used against them effectively. Considering how close the match between them and AL was, and how dominant GenG were in the final game, I would put AL and T1 in the same spot.
Who I am watching out for? I am looking forwards to seeing CFO again. JunJia caught my eye at MSI last year and HongQ at First Stand. I believe that they can and should be competitive against most teams at EWC. As a reminder - they took both AL and T1 to 5 games. Which leads me to the LCK 3rd seed, HLE, who will be playing what will hopefully be an insane BO1 against CFO. I hope to see that they are on form again since I certainly missed their creativity (aka Zeus and Zeka picking whatever they want) and high-level execution at MSI (yes I know Knight picked Veigar and I enjoyed it thoroughly but still).
To sum up, Once again, I hope for a fun, bloody tournament, with hopefully just a bit more creative and chaotic picks.
Congrats to GenG and good luck to everyone on EWC.
GO T1!!!! ❤❤❤❤
