Here is something that was Previously in that one old Poll on 'Which Official Character should be turned into a Mermaid for MerMay?' back on DeviantArt, and one of them was Mrs. Toad of 'Thumbelina', so I made this very Piece all in one Morning, and I've added Characters from Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel 'Seconds' such as Katie & Hazel being hugged by the Gorgeous Mermaid Amphibian.

today’s thought: technically the musical never outright states that Toad’s mother is dead (implied, yes, but I am a horse with blinkers and implications are beyond my scope) so technically there’s nothing to stop me from headcanoning Toad’s mother as alive
i’m just imagining the humour if Mole assumes Toad’s mother is dead but it turns out she’s actually a famous opera singer or something and is just rarely ever home
Mole: Think of your mother, Toad! Toad: You leave my mother out of this!
What Mole thinks he’s saying: Consider your poor, departed mother and how she’d react to your behaviour! What Toad is hearing: If you don’t behave, I’m telling your mum
