So today I decided to pick a random roll out of my pile of unprocessed film that I shot and upload whatever its contents are. What I got are these pictures I took last summer while filming a documentary on the coastal restoration efforts of the Bayou Bienvenue Triangle in Lower 9th Ward of New Orleans. Despite the glamour of Mardi Gras, this New Orleans is still suffering from the man-made destruction wrought upon this small port town. This bayou was once filled with lush greenery but due to the introduction of MRGO (Mississippi River Gulf Outlet) in the 60's. It was made out to be a shortcut for ships to make their way into the Gulf of Mexico for faster trade routes, and a hub of jobs. The channel unfortunately welcomed in an influx of saltwater, killing the vegetation that also acted as a natural barrier against hurricane and natural storms.
