I started my DPS year interning for Mr.Simon, a graphic and product design studio in Valencia, Spain. I’m so glad that I chose to do my first internship outside London, because in a way, it made me open up to the possibility of working in new places, different environments and perhaps moving away from the usual list of companies which interns tend to target in London.  The studio is run by Aaron and Nacho, both amazingly talented guys whom I’m really happy to have worked with. This was a 3 month internship and during my stay here, I have worked on the identity for Festival de Arte e Integración 10 Sentidos, websites, logos, posters and have contributed towards conceptually developing projects.  I have had a great summer. When out of the studio, it’s like being on a holiday. The only issue I faced was that I didn’t (don’t?) speak Spanish and it gets very hard to communicate with people sometimes. But apart from that, it’s been great! Also, I just had a Skype interview with V-Agency, NY about half an hour ago. Let’s see how that goes! 

The studio undertakes a wide variety of work and the simplicity with which they implement their ideas is so inspiring. Their Cóm-oda bench is a clever idea, superbly executed. The Candy Vegetables project, almost a design parody. Deparquet just makes one wonder how no one had thought of something like that before! The fact that they have such a vast range of work is very impressive for a young studio and I really look forward to joining their team.
