"Mr Mouse is my favourite character. I know he's not real and he's an invention of Sauron's mind but I would like to see a spinoff of Mr Mouse's adventures. One day his house was on fire and all the giants that lived there either ran away or were lying down having a big sleep, and the new giants that came to live there seemed mean. So Mr Mouse packed his wee bindle full of mouse things and set off into the great unknown. He met other mice and made mouse friends and got a mouse girlfriend and lived happily ever after."
Your mouse reblog got me thinking of a Great Mouse Detective version of TROP where Mr Mouse is dealing with Ratatar at the exact same time that the main series' action is taking place.

Mr Mouse's name among his people is actually Silverpaw, and he is a gifted smith - and adventurer of Celebrimbor's grand forge, meeting with the 'dwarven' mice which live at the bottom of the grand forge (or underground) to create new marvels. His trusted assistant is called Mirpawdia.
One day, a large mouse (definitely not a rat, nuh-uh!) called Halmouse arrives, eventually revealing itself as Ratatar - supposedly an emissary of the more gifted mice that live in Celebrimbor's private quarters, and who have access to much better scrolls and tools than Silverpaw has. (A bold lie.)
Silverpaw is awed, and wants to prove himself the most talented mouse in Celebrimbor's city, Eregion - and among his peers! Only, something is not quite right...
(I also low-key love the idea of Silverpaw going through his own Ratatar troubles first, and then having massive deja-vu when he sees 'his' favorite elf having the same thing happen to him, so he tries to intervene in whatever way he can!)
(Bonus if this is a fix-it AU and the mice of the forge, lead by Silverpaw, have learned all about friendship, trust and collaboration from the Ratatar - and help their elven friend by stealing the rings, warning Celebrimbor and guiding him away, and 'accidentally' make Annatar tumble down the stairs with some well-placed potato peels. Hehe.)
