The Djolings had a Joe Keery appreciation moment!
Mr Mountebank
for this djune game by @keithvalentinex :)
june 7: pick one djoling and one djo song you relate to him.
what if...
steve harrington: love can't break the spell. he's got a big heart and prioritizes how other people feel so often. this song feels a bit like reconciling with that -- with showing that he recognizes he shouldn't have been treated the way he was. that he knows there were good times in the past, too. but, that's just it. the past. ultimately, no amount of love can override that. but, also, mr. mountebank. a lot of focusing on becoming a better version of himself. of looking at the past and then where he wants to go in the future. looking at what people expect and what he actually wants to be. the ending verse, recognizing he gives the best of himself to people who don't deserve.
travis 'teacake' meacham: grime of the world. feels a bit like him just acknowledging the bad things of the past and saying that the world needs better people in charge. but, also, thich nhat hanh. because we see him trying to find peace in himself, trying to heal and better himself.
gator tillman: gloom. the antsy-ness of this song just feels like him. the talks of fighting, of squaring up to people. of not liking the town or people really. the music to it just feels like it's amping up for a fight, which kind of feels like his character.
walter 'keys' mckey: on and on. very focused on being online. on how everything is curated. this algorithmic generation. of programming what you want to see.
kurt kunkle: fool. he'd literally be a fool for anyone. that's his whole vibe. performing for the world. being a jester. being this person chasing the highs of other people interacting.
Bet you won't forget the way I drove back home // When you were cryin', even though you were wrong // I was there to comfort you with all respect gone // Haven't seen you again, I guess that's our swan song, mmm
