Omega Dean who is pregnant with Alpha Sam's child and he is freaking out about the pregnancy and the parenthood and giving up hunting. But he is better than Sam.
Sam, who is having an existential crisis. He doesn't even understand why. He's excited about having a kid. He wants to have a kid. But he also wants to growl angrily whenever Dean says anything alluding to it.
It takes him until Dean is 8 months along and lactating to realise that he wants to have a kid, but he doesn't want Dean to have a kid. Which doesn't make sense but also totally does. Because suddenly Dean's attention will be focused on the baby and that just doesn't sit right with Sam.
He doesn't tell Dean because obviously that is not something his omega would like to hear right? And Sam is an adult. He can take not being the center of Dean's world, right? Right?
Okay. He can't. The first two weeks after the baby is born, Dean is always too busy with the kid and Sam is simultaneously both a happy alpha dad and a jealous alpha pup and he's super embarrassed about it.
On week number 4, Dean notices Sam sulking and pulls him down next to him even as he's breastfeeding their pup and he nuzzles against Sam's neck, scenting him.
"You will always be my first pup, Sammy. So that means you will always be my favourite, but we gotta keep it a secret, okay?"
Sam rests his head against Dean's shoulder and nods. He doesn't like it. But the baby needs Dean more than him. At least for now.
(Sam is a great dad though. He actually helps with the kid more than most alpha parents do. He is excited about being a dad. About having something that he and Dean created together. And he's not gonna let childish desires that never quite disappeared ruin that to him.)
