“I’m fine.” 

“I’m just asking because I’m curious—does anyone actually know the reason why we’re here?”

“fetch!” oliver commanded and then threw the ball, watching as the dog happily ran after it. it had only been an hour or so since class had let out and he was outside getting a head start on his homework. before he had left training, he had been given zero and was told that his assignment was to gain complete control over the animal in only a few days. since oliver wasn’t allowed to use his mind control on people, the dog would be used as a substitute to help him train as it was another intelligent life form. and although he had been a little uncomfortable using his power on zero, that had quickly changed after a half hour of being completely ignored. now that he had gained some control over the dog things were going fine, but he couldn’t say the same for his aim as he ended up hitting someone with the ball after it was given back to him. “holy shit! i am so sorry,” he apologized as he looked down at the person after he ran to their side. “are you okay?”

Late into the night, at some ungodly hour, Darius woke up. He wouldn’t say he had a nightmare, since he didn’t remember it, but something happened in his sleep to make his body tense, mind restless, and a burning feeling rise in his throat. He recognized the burning feeling, the taste of smoke in the back of his throat, and knew that chugging a glass of water wasn’t going to help him. Pulling on some trunks and a sweatshirt, the man made his way to the pool as quickly and silently as he could. He had just gotten off the elevator on the top floor when he realized he wasn’t alone. Suddenly even more alert, the man used his enhanced hearing and vision to get an idea of who else was up when they weren’t supposed to be. Once he finally found the person, he waited by the only entrance, his instincts telling his to cover the exits so that the other wouldn’t escape, regardless of the person being student or staff. “What are you doing?”

Onlookers laugh and point at the strange boy walking around with his arm raised to the heavens, phone in said hand.  He usually would’ve not appreciated the attention, but he is too concentrated in whatever... odd activity he is doing to even mind them.  Pirouetting and tiptoeing about, he inevitably runs into someone, and finally, he is snapped out of his reverie.

Kali stared intensely at the game before her, no blinking or breaking away the hardened gaze. It was almost as if she was thinking that if she stared hard enough, the stacked milk bottles will start to fall on their own. However, the guard was trying to come up with something that could make the game more fun instead of actually doing her job. She broke her still figure when she took a step back, a devious smile growing onto her face as she figured it out. The woman turned over to the person next to her, leaning closer so she was audible. “If I can knock down all the bottles with one throw, you sit in the dunk tank. If I don’t, I’ll steal all of these prizes for you,” she pointed at the hanging stuffed animals, her voice low so the person behind the booth won’t hear her. “Deal?”
