Looking at Hades an amused smile appeared on Zeus’ face. “Are you trying to inaugurate me into some wicked lost soul humor, my dear brother?” Trying to make a joke, he hoped his brother wouldn’t be offended by it. Sometimes Zeus loved to make fun of Hades’ realm as much as his brother loved to make fun of him and his power to wield lightning.

Schooling his expression next he tried to give his brother a serious reply. “Your words are true. I guess we all sometimes felt like our hands were tied and that we didn’t really have a choice in how things went in our life.” Of course making his own version of what Hades’ words had meant Zeus didn’t forget to ask what his brother had meant with them, “What do you actually mean with your words?” A frown appearing on his face another thought came to mind, “Is someone you know in trouble?”

Hades laughs at Zeus’ comment, then shakes his head reassuringly. “Don’t worry, brother, I keep that humour for people who actually understand it,” he counters the younger god’s words, amused.

He listens then to what Zeus says in a more serious tone, and hums. It’s entirely not what he meant with the line, and an entirely different interpretation of it, but at the same time he kind of gets that view, too.

“No, no one’s in trouble. I was just thinking. So many people are alive but they’re not really living, you know?” He hums pensively for a moment. “I mean, just like I said. Alive is such a broad word but it doesn’t actually mean someone’s happy. These days people can sit in a wheelchair and be able to do absolutely nothing for themselves and they’re still called ‘alive.’ What use is it if you can’t even live?”

Well this wasn’t exactly how Maxx had planned this going. But then again, no one really would prepare to be hit on by their Uncle. He didn’t really know how to address that. He couldn’t exactly be like, it’s nice that you want me to bite you but I’m a bit busy trying to learn about my dad, your brother. Was it a compliment to be hit on by Zeus? Although he did seem to be rather indiscriminate with his partners if myths were anything to go by. 

Maxx raised a brow at the King of God’s change in demeanour. He assumed this was a you will obey me thing, and that made Maxx was so desperately want to defy him. Although, he guessed if he defied Zeus then he would never find out about his dad and also when Zeus did find out that Maxx was his nephew he’d be mad or something. 

It’s been six months since he came to Mount Phoenix. Six months of finding his way around, of defending himself in a world that only got even more dangerous for him. Six months of trying to keep himself in check as best as he can and trying to live by the rules of the city. And what does it bring him?

This.

Being attacked in alleyways by demigods who apparently just really hate the likes of him. Why? He doesn’t know. He has never met these guys before. If they’d have been the ones he’d fled from recently who have come back to finish the job, that he maybe could have understood. But this? It’s grating on the last of his nerves, fraying the edges and sending him into a frenzy.

He’s no longer defending himself, he’s not even fighting anymore. He’s raging. He’s losing any and every control. He’s hammering down on his attackers with punches and kicks as much as he can. He’s letting all of his pent up anger and frustration about this stupid city and his stupid parents out on his opponents. He’s outnumbered, but he’s doing it violently, ready to take at least one or two of them down with him.

The weather seems to mimic his mood, because where his fists are raining down on his opponents, the sky is raining down on all of them. It’s a major downpour, like the sky has gathered its moisture for weeks on end and is now letting it loose on the world. Lightning flashes have lit up the entire scene several times before and the loud, crashing thunder has already masked the outcries of pain several times.

“As long as you’ve existed.” she states, quietly blinking as if she’s not phased; although his swing in emotion right to anger did make her a bit...nervous. It was one of those things she’d rather witness from a distance, rather than straightforward.  “And you should have known me long enough to know that I’m testing your determination. Congratulations, however, I see you still have it in you and that is quite admirable.”

Maybe it was a little too daring that Eris was speaking to Zeus like this, especially after his anger had risen and he was looking upon her in such a way—but who would she be not to poke at even him? 

Drinking partners were, in essence, unnecessary when one was a being that had suffered through millennia of loneliness and turbulence. There were deities of course that clung to artificial senses of humanity in their need for creature comfort, as if they were not the end and beginning of their own and their people and their land. In reality- whatever that was -a God was a God, whether they lived and died alone or wrapped into the tapestry of their contemporaries. The Greeks were particularly bad about clinging to mortal ideals, but she was not. She was the link between life and death and glory and shame, the nightmare of cowards and the sovereign of warriors, and she certainly was not lonely as she drank alone in the corner of Dr. Feel Good's.

She was, however, bitter and incensed; particularly scorned by Amaterasu's dalliances with a Greecian God himself. If anyone should understand the ethereal limitations and distance placed not just between mortals and Gods, but between Gods and Goddesses, should it not be the literal light of the Morrigan's life, her glowing sun?

Apparently this was not the case.

No amount of black velvet or hand spun lace or blood red lip laquer pleased her, and though she looked very much crafted from stone and gem this evening, the aura of angry malice flickering around her was enough to offset any approach, even from other deities. It would take a wildly stupid or equally powerful being to not fear such a presence.

-and oh was it easy to sense when just such a person entered the premises.

The city of Mount Phoenix was a strange, ugly place with many things in it that Hades still needed to take time to figure out. It appeared people now talked to themselves out in the open and have created lamps that held the sun itself inside of them. Perhaps he should have listened more to Persephone whenever she would tell him about this world, but then again he was always more interested in how she looked when she talked about the Upperworld than in what exactly she was saying. It was probably his love for her. After all, he’s always said that it’s a dangerous thing to love someone.

But currently his attention was not so much on all the strange things around him, but more so on the man he’d come to this city for. Well, partly, of course. It wasn’t like every step he took was entirely a hundred percent for his brother. That would be ridiculous. Nobody did that much just to see their brother again. Of course not. Especially the god of the Underworld would never hold that amount of love and care for another person. Psht. The thought alone--

Anyway, moving on.

Cursing the fact that there was no such thing like telepathy between brothers, Hades looked around to see if there was anything that looked like a place where Zeus would be hanging out. But then none of these modern world buildings looked like Zeus would be hanging out there. Where were the statues? The majestic pillars? The presence!? Make sure to hear that in the right, dramatic, French way, by the way. Otherwise it would miss it’s effect.

Sighing deeply when almost an hour of walking around still hadn’t delivered anything fruitful, Hades came to a full stop. Closing his eyes for a moment, he lifted his hand to rub his forehead, before straightening and snapping his fingers. “Hello there, little fella,” he spoke to the hell-hound appearing at his side. The animal was looking up at him, ready to do his bidding. “Be a good boy and sniff out my brother for me, would you? Zeus.” Watching the hound sniff around and put itself into motion, Hades smirked. “Oh and, don’t forget to give him a good slobbering when you get there. Let him know how much you missed him.”
