Playing around with a painting after Velázquez I did last year. My 5 yr old and I have just been arguing whether she’s asking for “more, more, more” or just chewing?! The main painting shows a section of the once lost ‘Retrato de niña’ o ‘Joven Inmaculada’ (‘Portrait of girl’ or ‘Young Immaculate’) which recently sold at auction in Madrid for €8 million. Luna’s Black Butterfly created in 2016. This real butterfly automaton was named after the beautiful woman who commissioned it. It features a Green Birdwing Butterfly (Ornithoptera Priamus). This is one of the largest butterflies in the world with a wing span of 6 inches across. I armored this butterfly with brass filigree and adorned it with a pale lemon peridot. This sculpture also includes a rare antique bulb shaped cloche and antique brass flowers. The song playing is called Atomic Aria by me, Ave Rose and produced by @atomsmithmusic on @entelodonrecords .
