Mourin is such a tragic character in the beginning it's sad haa
He makes all the wrong decisions, thinking he's doing the right thing only to find out the people he believed in were playing him all along. He's already trashed the only chance at an actual family that he had, thinking he was working for a greater cause, only to be faced with the heartbreaking realization that he was placing the people he cared for, and who actually cared about him, in harm's way. People he betrayed and realized too late he should have clung to because the side he ran back to could care less about his feelings as an individual. And he's only just realizing it. And that's what he was facing going into that scenario with Chelgro, he had no idea things were supposed to go the way they did and in that moment he's jumping between parties trying to provide time for the one who gave him a semblance of self the chance to escape. They don't trust him after the weight of what he did but it doesn't matter to him because they're in trouble and they need to get out.
Mourin needs to earn their trust back and he will and I am so proud of the character development I've put into this kid, he started out as a fucking emotionless robot before Path took him in, and only over time did he discover he has the right to an opinion.
Like when I first made him, I didn't care for him. He was a brooding brat I would have been irritated with because of the amount of lying he does but the more I've worked on him over the years the less one dimensional he's become and the more sympathetic I am? I think the most amount of time I've put into him has centered around making many of his decisions completely understandable. Frustrating, but something where you GET that he doesn't have a say and as he progresses I start to cheer for him. He's finding out he's more important to people than he thought he was and he's given a purpose and yep. I relate to this boy. *rolls in oc feelings*
