After already taking on one short hike this past Saturday, we were feeling ambitious. We went strait to the Mt. Dickerman trailhead after trail running the Big Four Ice Caves. We have to get in shape for hiking season, after all. And, thereβs no better way to do that than by hiking!
Most of the trail is switchbacks on the way up, and the vertical climb to the top is nearly 4,000 feet. But, we heard the views were spectacular. So, we decided this hike would be worth it.Β
After 4.4 miles of hiking relatively steep, but steady, terrain. We reached the top! We trudged the last half mile in snow, even though we were only wearing trail runners. But, it was so hot out that they dried our pretty quickly.
When you get to the top you can see everything. Baker, Glacier Peak, and even the top of big four (where we were earlier in the day) were clearly visible. The 360 degree panoramic views were well worth the exhausted legs and lungs. Because it was a nice day, there were several people at the top taking it all in as well. (Hopefully those guys we saw at the top put sunscreen on their pasty white thighs!) All in all, it took us just over 2 hours to get to the top, and 2 hours to get down.
