what would you do with an over-aggressive cockatiel?? my friend's hen has been really aggressive and obsessed with her mirror reflection lately and she doesn't really like to be apart from her reflection anymore :-( ps hope the birdies are doing well xxxxx
Is the mirror in her cage? If so, I would recommend covering or removing it--it sounds as though the hen has decided the cockatiel in the mirror is her "mate", and will likely continue to be aggressive/protective/territorial until the mirror is removed. She'll unfortunately be upset about this at first, but should recover in a few days. Your friend might also try some hormone control techniques (rearranging the cage weekly, making sure her hen gets 12-14 hours of darkness a night, limiting soft foods and access to enclosed areas that might look like a nesting spot, etc.), since it sounds like her hen might be getting nesty.
I hope this helps! :D Let me know if you have any other questions! (And the birds are doing fine; thank you for asking!)
reminder that you are super cool and sweet*~

Thank you ! We're going to see a movie this evening, and the theatre is still open so the flooding must not be too bad in town.
mouldynipple replied to your post: The problem with science,...
well that sounds fun. im planning on studying chemistry at university :o
DOOOO IT
It's something not a lot of people do, and it is, in fact, worth it, because when you find something new it's SO EXCITING that it makes the tedium worth enduring (the problem is that then none of your non-scientist friends understand just HOW EXCITING it is, so they all just think you're crazy).
Also, one of the best parts of being a scientist? Getting to tell people you're a scientist. Sometimes I just think to myself, "I'm a scientist," and then smile about it because HOW COOL IS IT BEING A SCIENTIST AWWWW YEAH SCIENCE
