‘The sight of such a monument is like continual and stationary music, which one hears for one's good as one approaches it.’

Rustic climbing structure used at Mottisfont Abbey, England, to train roses on. I am always looking for ways other people display and train their roses. This structure is too rustic for my garden, but I can imagine that it would look great in a country or cottage garden. Dorset.
We are back from a lovely relaxing mini break in a converted barn in Dorset. Lots of reading, relaxing and laughing just me and my lovely husband. The weather was kind to us so we enjoyed fabulous walks along the beaches of the Jurassic coast. We loved West Bay and Burton Bradstock (where we enjoyed fish and chips at the famous Hive cafe) and also stopped briefly at Lyme Regis for an ice cream. We also made time to visit a couple of NT properties. We loved Barrington Court. A beautiful house and gardens. And such clever interpretation inside the house. Then in the way home we popped into Mottisfont. Most of the house wasn't open but we did get to see the famous trompe l'oeil room by the artist Rex Whistler. There was an exhibition of his works as well which was fascinating. So a wonderful relaxing holiday. We really are enjoying our UK hols at the mo so we must book more soon!
