Capacity, healing, compassion, understanding, knowledge, wisdom, trauma, listening deeply to what my body needs. These are all parts of being heard. Having someone or a group of mothers sit with you, hold you, while you share what is painful in your heart is the beginning. It’s the start to healing and bringing in all the imprints we’ve been conditioned with since we were young. We hold all the painful parts close. We then explore new ways of being with our children. Through being heard and held we experience the magic of being able to envisage something different with our children. We are no longer alone with our experience but deeply connected with someone or others who have had similar experiences which we can share, support and love one another through. As we grow and build our voice, become more understanding of our own needs and continue listening to our pain, working and exploring it, we can meet our children more deeply in theirs. We can hold, listen and connect with their feelings and meet their needs. We now can create a new lineage that ends the pain (or most of it) that we held. For me this is why I choose this journey, I want something different for my girls. And every time I’m held and listened too I find myself again. I go back to my girls with more capacity, more strength and more holding to truly give them what they need. I wonder if you have felt this connection before?
