immense relief washes over her as she collapses into familiar arms,   clinging tightly and burying her face against her friend’s shoulder.   the familiar scent of nina washes over her and it smells like home.   it had been easier than she thought to handle the coldness from everyone else,   the resentment for leaving for those long months of solitude.   but nina’s gentle forgiveness and understanding are enough to bring her to tears,    knowing she doesn’t deserve it and yet too grateful for it to protest.   

she hadn’t realized how much she’d needed this,   the comfort of nina’s embrace and for one person   ---   just one   ---   to look at her and not see wanheda.   and not just any person,   but her person.   the one who’s been there nearly as long as she can remember.   the one who she’s sworn to protect and care for as long as she’s able.   nina’s hand rubs her back soothingly as she tries to get the tears and her breathing under control.   but the whispered words   ‘  don’t worry,   i’ve got you,   ’   are...   off.   there’s something to the tone of her voice,   the cadence perhaps.   she could pick nina’s voice out of a clamoring crowd while blindfolded,   and this just isn’t right.

DAY 04: favorite portrayals of an original character:

my goodness, i could literally go on and on about all of your characters individually but that would make this post way too long and it would be a bit repetitive but holy cow - these characters are nothing short of amazing.  and so well thought out, and so beautifully written.  and their voices!!!   their voices are so unique and with every new post, they literally come alive.  and i adore each and every one of them so incredibly much!!

Now. I’ve mentioned here… and here… and here and here and here some thoughts on Fox and her Rebel King. But enough is never enough and there is no such thing as too much when it comes to fox and bellamy.

My favorite thing about Fox’s feelings toward Bellamy is the uncertainty in them. Does she love him? Yes. Is she in love with him? No, but she could be if she let herself. Does she trust him? More than anyone.

Bellamy is, as I’ve said before, Fox’s hero from a storybook. Bellamy gave her leadership on the ground, laid claim to her and the kids where the adults abandoned them, brought food when the kids were hungry, gave her a protector when Trikru attacked. Bellamy became everything to Fox in a short amount of time. And he, unlike the adults, never disappointed her. Ok that’s a lie, he did disappoint her when he turned on Murphy, but he never turned on her specifically.

He fought when the dropship was attacked before the kids could get in. He was left outside the mountain and he fought through hell to get to his kids, and when she was facing down death, alone and terrified in a cold stone room, out of LITERALLY nowhere Bellamy arrived, saving her life.
