the punisher doesnt understand the kind of emotions spider-man is (not that he could see for certain, but most definitely) letting out under his mask. his own had been long since snuffed out. but the kids werent. he wonders if this is what "tugging at the heartstrings" means when he finally reaches out and wraps one arm around the hero, around the back of his neck stiff like and awkwardly pulling him close. he hasnt done this in years. he kind of wonders if it wouldve been better to stare.

Peter was a rather sentimental person. He was smart, brilliant even, but like most people he could be easily overtaken by powerful emotions that overpowered his logic or sense of brilliance. Whatever brought him to expressing sadness that currently had his body wrecked with labored breathing was not known. But even without his face being seen, if Frank could even sense the emotion, it was clear he was upset about something. He was ready to just stand there and try to ride the emotions out as best he could when he felt the pressure of another pulling him close.

The white eyes of his mask widen at the older man in confusion and surprise and it takes him a moment to really process what was happening. This was so unlike Frank, displaying any sort of comfort like this, Peter was so taken back. But he couldn’t resist. Without a warning, Peter reciprocated the awkward hug and would go on to make it even more awkward by trapping Frank in a close embrace, pressing his face against rhe man’s shoulder. He was silent, which was so unlike him, ‘cept for what appeared to be possible crying.

Is that how tall he was going to be in the future? If so, he had a lot of growing to do. But it was clear the man before him didn’t quite understand just what he meant when he said they were the same person. As older Peter crouched down to his height, the child’s brows furrowed in concern and a little bit of frustration under his homemade mask.

“N-no, I mean, we’re like the same person. Sort of, I think. I’m not from here, sir.” He tried to clarify, reaching out to gently touch the man’s knee if he so allowed it. “I got powers too. The stickiness and the strength and the Spidey-sense.”

He still wasn’t getting through, huh? Peter shook his head and groaned just a little. “Please look.” He told the older spider and proceeded to take off his mask to reveal his face.

Henry loved thunder and lightning storms. And while the power going out temporarily was inconvenient, he was determined to make the most of it.

Peter had a knack for attracting like-minded individuals, even now, as a child. And by like-minded individuals, in that category, one could also add fellow weird, superpowered or socially awkward children like himself. Case in point, Peter curiously hiding behind a tree as he stared at a strange looking girl from across the park. May had trusted him to go alone because it was only a few blocks from the apartment. As long as he came home before dinner and didn’t talk to strangers OR reveal his powers which might draw unwanted attention. People had…conflicting reactions whenever he revealed his ability to lift a car over his head, carry a man three times his size, or stick to the ceiling upside down unaided. Some people found it amazing, others found it scary a child could wield such power, like he needed to be controlled. So it led to him mostly hiding his abilities but that became quite hard when these powers were so ingrained in him! So maybe he just….needed to find people who’d understand. And…maybe this girl would.

Perhaps she just looked a little different. Maybe she was normal. But he didn’t know that for sure, so might as well give it a go. And, technically, this didn’t blow one of Aunt May’s rules ‘cause this was just a fellow kid! What harm could possibly come from interacting with another child? Surely nothing. Inhaling deep, Peter pushed his big round glasses further up on his nose bridge and blew a stray brown curl out of his face. Best impressions, right?

He proceeded to march right on over, trying to instill confidence in himself, only to feel nervousness swell up inside him the closer he got to this poor girl. Cheeks tinted pink and feeling sweat accumulate, Peter had no choice but to continue when he was within her eyesight and only a few inches away. So…start with banter, right?
