My dash is doing the thing where it's only showing me posts from over five days ago (with the exception of one, JUST ONE, post from four hours ago which I'm quite glad I saw, so I could offer support to a friend) but it's just so freaking frustrating! Because who knows if you'll see this? Who knows WHEN you'll see this?!

Anyway. A tumblr friend from NJ sent me really cool Star Wars stuff ten years ago (if you were around then I posted it) and she JUST FUCKING DID IT AGAIN 😭 I'm literally on the verge of tears. I had the worst fucking weekend, and the worst fucking day today, and just... oh my god. I didn't even know it on its way, and there's a fucking MILLENNIUM FALCON THAT FUCKING OPENS and it has LANDO AND NIEN AND A MYNOCK?! and I was googling the micro machine set to see if I could figure out where this weird windowshield thing went and saw that the original set came with Han and Leia (and others) and a sensor dish and was like... oh my god! What if, when she sent me the stuff ten years ago, it's in that box?!

So I went digging through that box (which, here it is, some of it!) and HOLY FUCKING SHIT, Han and Leia AND THE FUCKING SENSOR DISH ARE IN IT 😂😭😂😭😂 and this just made my day, my week, my MONTH, and wowza, I don't have words!!

katie was sweet and a good fit. keller was clearly intended as a trophy. god i fucking hate s4/5 so much. (except for the abundance of todd the wraith. i love todd the wraith so much.)

also poor dear katie brown who was so unceremoniously disposed of so that the writers could continue their quest to vicariously fuck kaylee frye.

I forgot about Katie, much like the writers, yeah, they were going out for like well over two seasons and weren't they gonna get married, i seem to remember that as well and they shipped her off to Earth and I don’t think it was many episodes after when he was after Keller. As much as I feel sorry for any woman who has to put up with McKay, Katie was a much better fit for him that Keller.

my trash-shit fave: Roy???? He's not trash-shit but idk who else to put here lol. He's right behind Riza in second place as my fave

my I love to hate them fave: Lust, probably? This series is one of the only places where I can actually sort of enjoy the bad guys and don't just immediately want them dead

my I hate to love them fave: I never have answers for these! I love loving everyone I love or I wouldn't love them. Barry the Chopper??? He's a serial killer so I don't love him, but he's funny sometimes???? And again, this series actually does villains really well since I hate 99% of villains but at least these guys are all interesting

my I wouldn’t piss on them if they were on fire non-fave: the dwarf in the flask. Or Kimblee

my I didn’t care about them either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about them now I can’t stand them non-fave: Miraculously, possibly because I haven't spent a large amount of time in this fandom since like 2007, I don't think fandom has ruined anyone for me, lol. Lin, maybe??? Although he annoys me sometimes in the series too anyway

my I could take them or leave them kinda non-fave: Izumi or Armstrong? I love both of them but not to the level of the other characters in this series (Alex, not Olivier, Olivier is definitely one of my faves)

my I will go down with this ship and I won’t put my hands up and surrender, there will be no white flag above my door. I’m in love and always will be fave ship: Roy/Riza!!!!!! One of the greatest ships of all time I LOVE THEM SO MUCH they’re so devoted to each other and think about each other all the time and protect each other UGH HELP

my dirtybadwrong fave ship: Nope, I really don’t ship in this series anyway

my they’re cute together and I dig them but I’m not all that terribly invested kinda fave ship: Ed/Winry. They're so cute! I really like them! But I've never felt the desire to read fic about them or anything

my I didn’t care about this ship either way at first but the fandom makes such a big deal about it now I can’t stand it non-fave ship: Lin/Lan Fan? I don't hate it but meh

I was a little surprised by that too! I feel like I’ve always known people who really liked that ep and consider it the first emotionally Kara-centric one. But I think it’s one of those episodes that suffered for being the first half of an unofficial two-parter, where “You Can’t Go Home Again” is considered the stronger part.

I cannot relate at all, being LITERALLY THE ONLY PERSON who wants to give “A Measure of Salvation” any love. Y’know, for reasons. (Love nearly all of 4.0 too, the poll did not have enough of it but I appreciate it got some votes, bless you for that.)

I honestly adore how almost EVERYTHING got at least one vote, like there’s somebody out there who not only likes but *loves* even the least popular episodes, or simply the ones that are overlooked. BSG had so many working parts, it really is a ‘one fan’s trash is another’s treasure’ thing. Even the much-criticized “Black Market” had a (sincere!) defender, and so did “Measure of Salvation” (SEE ABOVE, IT WAS ME). Buuuuut then you get to this tiny handful that not even one person could put on their list and... of course it’d be Woman King. XD

I get that a lot?! I SERIOUSLY DO LOVE AND APPRECIATE ROSLIN SO MUCH AS A CHARACTER but I’ve never been fully part of the Rosliny end of fandom, because (a) I actively do not ship her with Adama and (b) I have a lot of *very complex and conflicted feelings* about her morality-wise and president-wise that I’ve barely sorted out *myself*. I admire her on some levels but not unconditionally and I’m sometimes put off by Flawless Airlock Queen type sentiment. I get this combination of “other people who are more intense about her have this Covered” and “boy is this a bunch of arguments I don’t want to have” and then I retreat to my Baltar/Cylons bubble that I feel a lot more comfortable writing meta about. :p

But for real, Laura Roslin, actually one of my very favorite characters and the show would’ve suffered so, so greatly without her. And as much as she is beloved by a lot of people within fandom I kinda think she’s *underrated* in like, the CANON OF SCIENCE FICTION and fully-realized, complicated, powerful female characters.

Hee, there is so little overlap between HDTGM fans and people who follow me for any other reason but I don’t care, at SOME point of every day at work I am listening to an episode of it on my headphones and stifling laughter at something I forgot about.
