Another lord knelt before his corpse, whispering a blessing of peace to any and every god on Morzan’s behalf. When Galbatorix knew damn well this man was celebrating his death in private. He only needed to brush his mind over his to confirm the suspicion.
Lord what’s-his-name flinched when with a snap of Galbatorix’s fingers the golden doors slammed shut. “My liege…?” he stood, turning to the king.
Galbatorix crossed his legs, glancing between the guest and his great black dragon thoughtfully as he lifted his glass of wine to his lips.
“Shruikan, are you hungry?” Galbatorix answered for him as Shruikan woke, stretching his spine like a cat as he shifted onto his feet, while their visitor made a run uselessly to the doors, “Oh, Shruikan’s always hungry.” He was easier to motivate that way.
