Meet Morghain and Mortea, my two Mortys for my Mortycest AU.
They’re still in development but I wanted to share their initial sketches with ya.
(I believe all Mortys go by Morty, but their full names vary greatly, like how 2spooky Morty is actually named Mordecai.)
Morghain is a Citadel Morty—serious and diligent in his actions. Any softness he once had was replaced in his line of duty. He and his Rick spent large amounts of time there preserving the general peace. His Rick specialized in cybernetic enhancements, and Morty agreed to let him use them on himself. This Morty is a low-augmentation cyborg. Most notably he has cybereyes and a cyberbrain. The cybereyes allow him to have an HUD and analyze anything visually, and the cyberbrain lets him access computers remotely, even connect to the internet. He’s got some other enhancements, but these are the most important. The only visible signs of his augmentation are the ports on the back of his neck and his cybereyes. (the M0rt1 is a joke I couldn't resist. Those 1s and 0s)
Mortea is a dreamer with wide eyes, freckles, and wild russet hair. His expressions range from sleepy to happy, but he’s always always serene. He comes from a family of horticulturalists. His mom is a botanist (and actual tree surgeon), his dad strives to hold together the family flower shop and plant nursery but still seems to kill whatever he touches (he does alright with the business side of it though) and his sister is learning to take over the family business (while growing a not-insignificant amount of “herbs” on the side). His Rick is a horticultural genius, skilled in growing new types of plants, many of which are varying degrees of sentient and most of which are vary degrees of dangerous. Or, at least he was.
His grandfather was killed by Evil Rick and Mortea himself was abducted and used in the Morty Matrix shield apparatus Evil Rick was using to hide from the Council. He still has the scars on his sides from the ordeal. After his rescue (and treatment for emotional trauma, physical trauma, and general malnutrition) Mortea remained on the Citadel for reassignment.
During his time there he put his green thumb to good use and began to take over care of the plants and gardens on the Citadel. Previously this had been handled by robots but under Mortea’s care everything was bursting in bloom and lush and green the likes of which most Rick’s, even the Elder Ricks, had never seen on the Citadel.
This caught the attention of Morghain who often wandered the Citadel in his off-hours. He got to know the slow-talking, gardner Morty. Morghain found in him a serenity he’d never felt before, and a bright shining purity the likes of which he’d never encountered. After a stressful day of work or a long day in the lab getting augments Morghain often sought out Mortea for companionship, even if it was just chatting or sitting around in a garden. Morghain valued this Morty’s peaceful way of life and his pure outlook. For perhaps the first time, Morghain had a friend and he very much wanted to protect it.
(still trying to decide if I should have these two on this blog or give them their own, for now here they are)
