We began our Brussels day at a place named after D's favorite beer, Cafe Mort Subite. It was one of the best spaces in which I've ever enjoyed a beer even though the beer there isn't the kind I best enjoy.
TLDR;
As a rule, D doesn't like beer but as rules are sometimes broken, sometimes she likes a fruited beer called a lambic. Her favorite lambic is made with cherries and the Belgians refer to this with the word kriek. Lots of breweries make kriek beer but her fav is made by Mort Subite (Sudden Death.) Sadly it isn't imported into the U.S. so when in Belgium she drinks as many as she can. Which isn't many. I'd put the over/under during our nine day stay at six and most of those she drank at our our kids house.
A beer made with cherries is deep red, so you can see I didn't include a pic of a glass of it in this post. I did take a pic of the glass of kriek beer I ordered and drank but alas, the picture was not in focus. TBH at many times during our visit it was a challenge to focus. Mostly that was because of Audrey or Audrey the Destroyer as I nicknamed her.
ATD is 18mos old and is a force to be reckoned with. You must reckon with her or destruction will instantly ensue. This is because she grabs things, especially tablecloths, she is very loud, and she runs with more alacrity than one would credit to such a small child. While we all collectively worked to contain Audrey her destruction could not be stopped only mitigated.
As Mort Subite was sort of D's place, I focused to contain ATD. Our small section of tables was hemmed in by radiators, very hot ones. As I desperately but gently grabbed her each time she ran directly to a hot radiator, she squealed in delight, turned and ran to the other. In between moments of disaster, I managed to drink two beers and snap a bunch of out of focus pictures. What fun!
One day I hope to tell her all about it.
