Power is from a 1,798cc inline-four with 5-main bearings, fitted with twin SU (HIF4) carburetors and paired with a four-speed manual transmission (often with optional Laycock Type LH overdrive), and produces roughly 87–97 bhp at 5,500 rpm and torque of 103 lb-ft at 2,500 rpm. Achieving 0-60 mph in 12-13 seconds and returning approx. 30 mpg driven sedately.
Trivia:- The 1974 MGB GT was manufactured by British Leyland (specifically the Austin-Morris division), although it was marketed under the historic MG (Morris Garages) marque. By 1974, the company was fully part of the British Leyland Motor Corporation (BLMC) conglomerate.
