a box will apparently cost $15
I don't know if everyone in Mirror Mi is meant to be Japanese or Asian (there are aesthetic touches across the line, like Blaze's noodles and Shai's kawaii dessert) but I think Suki definitely is Japanese alongside Akiko. Suki's name fits and her bunny onigiri (bunnygiri?) snack suggests it further, but what really seals it for me is that her cracks are golden, referencing the Japanese practice of kintsugi (accentuating the cracks with gold when repairing a broken ceramic to display beauty and honesty in the piece's repair--this is the same practice cited for the red-cracked Kylo Ren helmet design in Star Wars Episode IX). That's a very specific cultural visual to apply to Suki's china-doll theme and her cracking could have been painted in other colors.
(Also, I am not getting over the fact that Suki's headphone cups can be used as actual teacups with her saucer. Can't wait for her to be available!)
I made some quick mirror mi blinkies(?) for my artfight, feel free to use them if you'd like!
Sincere question--is it weird that Mirror Mi Amora Valentina's holiday-chocolate motif (seen with the accessory and brown hair/clothing accents) is being paired with a similar brown skintone? I'm not sure how to feel about it myself. I like the idea of a love character bringing in Valentine chocolate as a color/design motif to not just be pink and red, and Amora is pretty, but is it improper for the doll's skintone to seemingly tie into the chocolate imagery? I know there's a problem of darker skintones too often being described in food comparisons. Is the doll being Black and chocolate-themed creating that issue in a different way?
