“Easy there, sweetheart!” You exclaim as Omega jumps down from a chair. She looks over at you and gives you a small nod before you turned back to the clerk, trying to bargain the knife you found for a lower cost due to rust.
“50 credits and I’ll let your kid pick out a snack.” The clerk answers, nodding his head to Omega who had already been eyeing up the treats lined up on a shelf. Her eyes light up at the notion and you couldn’t help but smile, it was five credits over the price you wanted it for, but fair overall.
“Deal.” You answer, motioning for Omega to pick one, to which she quickly snatched up some tepasi taffy. You shake your head and smile as you retrieve the credits from your satchel. “Sorry, wait here a moment please.”
You wander off with a frown, five credits off from 50. The clerk turns to Omega, who had already started eating the taffy. You were only on the other end of the store, so the clerk spoke quietly.
“Get your mom something for Mother’s Day yet?” The clerk asks, eyeing you, trying to decide if this child could even be yours or if she was adopted. Maybe she was and she got the majority of her genes from one of those guys you always ran around with. Maker, you were talking to one of them even now, trying to sway those extra five credits you needed.
“No, what’s Mother’s Day?” Omega asks, looking confused. The clerk looked surprised.
“It’s a day where you show your mother that you appreciate her by getting her gifts.” The clerk explains.
“Here we are, fifty credits.” You exclaim, handing over the credits to the clerk. He nods and takes the credits.
“Happy Mothers Day.” He says before waving the two off. You muttered a thanks and took Omega’s hand as you left the shop.
“Happy?” Crosshair questions, a little annoyed that she hadn’t brought enough credits with her and he had to fork over that extra five credits.
“Very.” You answer, placing a kiss on his cheekbone. “I’ll get you your five credits back, I promise.”
“Whatever.” He huffs, a light pink flush on his cheeks.
“You two ready?” Hunter asks, holding two bags of supplies. Tech even held a large rope of wires.
“Yeah, we were just—” Hunter’s comm began to buzz so he answers it.
“Hey! I need one of you to run an errand for me.” Cid’s voice shouts through the comm. The group looks around at each other, eye rolls and annoyance evident on their faces.
“I can do it.” You pipe up. “You guys can head back to the ship, I’ll meet you there when I’m done.”
“Are you sure?” Hunter asks, a look of concern on his face.
“Yeah, I’ll be fine.” You answer before comming Cid on your own device. “Alright Cid, what’s this errand?”
The group watches as you walk off, asking Cid for the details of this errand. Omega decided to take the chance to make her suggestion to the batch.
“Hunter!” Omega exclaims, looking excited. “We should get (Y/n) a Mother’s Day present!”
“What’s Mother’s Day?” Wrecker asks.
“And why (Y/n)? They’re not your mom.” Crosshair speaks up.
“No, but they act like they are.” Omega answers with a small frown, upset he’d shut down the idea so quickly.
“Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the galaxy.” Tech answers Wrecker, having just looked it up. “I believe (Y/n) is a fair candidate.”
“Alright, then what should we get them?” Hunter answers, not wanting to shut down the idea like Crosshair did. Besides, you deserved a gift. You’d done a lot for them within the recent months, maybe this would be the perfect time for all of them to show you their appreciation.
“I believe this should be Omega’s choice. However, we could also get her some flowers.” Tech suggests.
“This is ridiculous.” Crosshair scoffs, rolling his eyes.
“You’re welcome to bring everything back to the ship.” Hunter answers earning a glare from Crosshair.
“Fine. Someone has to make sure you actually pick out something good.” Crosshair answers.
The batch spent an hour running around to get some flowers and a gift for you. They all returned to the ship to find you alone in the ship, a smile on your lips.
“(Y/n) we got you a present!” Omega exclaims. You put on your best smile, happy to see the enthusiastic child.
“Thank you, Omega. You didn’t have to!” You answer smiling widely as the child hands you a small box. You feel hot tears well up in your eyes when you open the box to find a little silver necklace reading “we love you”. Hugging her tightly, your heart aches as you sob with joy. “Thank you guys. You all didn’t have to do this, really.”
“You deserve it, you’ve been a great help.” Hunter answers, placing his hand on her shoulder.
“I love you all too.” You say, holding up the small necklace.
“Happy Mothers Day to my best mom!” Omega exclaims with a giggle.
“Thank you Omega.”
