my mom and I went geocaching in York, PA, and out a little past there. And the caches were awesome (pictures and such, tomorrow, when I’m more awake), but what struck me most is how incredibly friendly people were. We were in York for all of 5 minutes, trying to figure out where the first stage of the Whereigo we were trying to do was, when a couple asked if we needed directions. I also want to say that at least 10 people who passed us said hello or good morning, and even more people gave at least a nod in greeting. Then there was the guy who saw us standing by a bridge and stopped to chat about how nice a day it was, and if we were waiting for the meeeting to start, too. We told him we weren’t, and he asked if we were from out of town and asked where we were from (turns out he used to live near north Philly) and he told us he was in the army in Kuwait , and all kinds of things. My mom seemed uncomfortable with how friendly he was (and was unhappy that his talking to us was taking up a lot of time) but he also called out a greeting to a lady with a stroller (and he knew her by name), and a couple kids on bikes called a greeting to him, and he asked how their dad was—he seemed like he was just a genuinely friendly guy who liked to talk to people. Then he asked if we needed directions, walked with us a bit and pointed us in the direction we were heading, and wished us well. His name was Raymond. Later in the day, a guy saw us on a walking trail and he went “hey, GPS’s, right?” And we were like “yep, we’re geocaching”. and he just goes “oh, cool. Did you know about the one in the parking lot? It’s by the 5th or 6th pole by the bank on the right”. Turns out he doesn’t cache, but he walks the trail a lot and has seen people there, and he knows what caching is. So overall just really friendly people today, and it made me super happy. (or maybe people southwest of here are just really friendly in general?)

And I think I feel...hopeful.  For the first time in quite a while, I feel truly hopeful.  Like I might actually want to see where life takes me, like it might actually be okay that I'm still alive.

I went zip-lining for the first time!  It was awesome!  And surprisingly not scary at all.  There were 5 lines in total, with platforms between each (and at one point a rope-bridge-thing to cross), and people to help stop you as you zoomed into each platform.
