It had been two weeks since Ludo had been separated from Toffee’s hold, and in that time he had mostly slept, needing to regain his physical and mental strength, despite never having much of either before all of this happened anyway.
He was surprised that his door was unguarded, allowing him to leave the room and wander the palace if he wanted, but...he was too frightened to. Despite the Queen’s promise that Toffee--wherever he was--couldn’t harm him, the little Avarius bird didn’t want to take any chances.
“Sir Ludo, you can leave this room, you know,” one of the servants that walked by told him. “The King and Queen encourage it.”
Ludo backed away from the servant like she was a poisonous snake. “N-no. Leave me.” He balled up against the headboard. He didn’t even want to open his eyes.
