Kasia acknowledged her strengths & weaknesses. Often, being seen as flamboyant by her associates left her upset, but they also held her in high regards & had so much respect for the Polish woman.
In her eyes, Danni didn't strike her as a woman that expected much of her, but mainly accepted her for who she really was; a woman raised in a rich family whose wealth & income came from the mafia & their illegal activities for years. They were often seen as clever people, but in truth they were also dangerous. Kasia, however, wasn't. While the Ostrowski family had a reputation in their homeland and on foreign lands, Kasia didn't enjoy the taste of threatening people for no reason. While it was acceptable that if anyone dared to cross her she'd take matters into her own hands, violence was her last resort.
So perhaps there was no one like her in such a world. Someone as compassionate. Someone that saw killing as unnecessary. But her family had chosen to swim in those waters, had their hands covered in blood, all of it unbeknownst to the young woman.
Taking a sip of vodka, Kasia chuckled before she addressed Danni's comment. Unwinding and being away from business and from the child Danni had was a perfect getaway. "Am I unique to your eyes?" She inquired curiously at the blonde, crossing a leg over the other. " Dziękuje. [Thank you.] You may be the first woman throwing such a compliment at me."
Danni nodded slowly as if the speed of her nodding would further emphasize her response. “I do. Never met a woman like you before, Kasia.” While she was still intimidated by Mr. Ostrowski, she had come to learn that Kasia wasn’t like the rest of her family and those who worked for her and her dad. She had a good heart, but she wasn’t a complete pushover, either. “Just…thought to let you know.”
Flattery could be used as a way to gain favors from wealthy and powerful people like them, but Danni’s reason was more genuine than ambitious. Despite their rocky start, which involved her son sneaking into the private dinner, it seemed like they were warming up to each other. In Danni’s case, her crush on Kasia was only increasing, but she wasn’t sure how the other woman would take it if she knew. And she did like spending time with her, so she wasn’t about to ruin whatever they had now.
At least, not until she was sure how Kasia felt towards her, too.
She was startled out of her thoughts by the sound of her son, Milo, murmuring something that sounded like pierdolić. Danni didn’t know what it meant, but it sounded like one of the words that were often said in the house. She was afraid to ask what it meant even as Milo continued to say it whenever he caused one of his action figures to topple to the floor. “…he’s not saying anything weird, is he? Sounds like something your dad says a lot.”
