Let’s seethe giver: talk about a favorite memoryMan, it’s been so long already I don’t quite remember the time. I think it was the beginning of senior year in high school though. Back in the days of Myspace & strange name generators, haha.Anywaaayyy, my best friend in the whole wide world, Amy; found a cool Lord of the Rings elven name generator(that or it was a fairy one.) But, we played around with it, and found some beautiful names. In our opinions at least.Now she, and I have always been very creative. She loves to write poems, & stories like I do. So, I don’t remember who’s idea it was, but we came up with the names we generated to be our Muse names. We were always inspiring each other. And, so for a short while we had a “Battle of the Muses” as we called it. But, really it was just us inspiring each other to write some poems about each other. And, then letting the other person continue from where we left off so it was a symphony of creativity, each of us playing off each others poems. It was a lot of fun sharing in something creative like that, especially with my best friend. It reminds me of this quote from Khalil Gibran ” Sing and dance together and be joyous, but let each one of you be alone,Even as the strings of a lute are alone though they quiver with the same music. “Each of us great writers; combining to make something greater!lord of the flies: what motivates you best?
Another tough question, nice! At the very base of it all, what motivates me most are things that bring out my sense of worth or value to this world. If that makes sense?Like taking care of friends in anyway I can. To things that can only, or will only be done because, I, the right person came along to do it.Like, one of my passions is tying my talents of being creative with a big passion to learn; into something like a teaching role aspect. But, I don’t want to be a teacher; I want to instill wonder & knowledge in an almost accidental. Or more specifically, a natural way.I have ideas for educational games, and want to make some one day. Last year I found this on Steam: http://store.steampowered.com/app/302750/It’s called “The Counting Kingdom”; it’s a basic math game. But, it’s really fun! I started checking out what it was about & who it was made by. A young woman named Jenna Hoffstein is the sole developer & designer, and she had a few other people she contracted for animation & music, etc.So, it was very indie.. It got me so excited, because that’s the dream!! My dream; someone was showing it could be done. It was still in Beta testing when I found it. So, I got really motivated, and just nerded out big time over it. I managed to help find a few bugs that needed to be fixed. And, later I helped out a bit in the support forum, because some people were asking about a port to Linux(if you haven’t heard of it; it’s just a different operating system for computers. Windows/Apple/Linux) I found a way to get it to run in Linux since that’s what I use mainly; and with Jenna’s blessing, I posted a how-to guide. So, it was a lot of fun. But, things like that. where my being is making a difference in small ways that go along with my talents. I have more examples, but oh gosh haha; I think one long memory & one extra long example of what motivates me is good enough.
