Street Fighter is a series I can appreciate for solidifying fighting games as a genre… but still couldn’t care less to play. I grew up with Street Fighter II and tried out Street Fighter IV some time ago, but nothing hooked me in or made me want to continue playing. None of the characters win me over either, as iconic as some of them may be. The closest to a favorite may be Dudely… cuz Dudley’s great. But his playstyle isn’t really my thing either.In the end, if I want something Street Fighter… I want the Street Fighter Movie and cartoon. Some of the greatest cheese i’ve ever seen and I would gladly them watch in one sitting if I could.

Favourite entry: Super Mario World. Least favourite entry: That’s actually really hard to say... I guess by association, Mario Is Missing can go here. As much as I love that game for all the wrong reasons, it’s still... not the best game ever for sure.First one I played: Either SMB or SMW. Not too sure which one. Most recent one I’ve played: Mario & Luigi Paper Jam. As for a traditional Mario game, Super Mario 3D World. Most nostalgic: Mario Paint. It’s one I would spend hours just fiddling around just making whatever. Even now I’ll sometimes just go back and play around just for fun. It’s just one of those games that I can go back to and feel at “home”, I guess. Hidden gem: Good question... what even is a hidden gem with mario games? Maybe the Game and Watch Gallery games? Those are pretty great. Or maybe the Super Mario Land games. Nobody really talks about those, but boy I love them alot. Underrated entry: I’ll always stand by Super Mario Sunshine for as long as I live. However it’s still hilarious to me how depending on who you ask, this game’s either overrated as heck or grossly under-appreciated... I just happen to think the latter. Overall opinion on the series: The Mario franchise has always been my “default” series, the one that I’ll always love; even when I don’t talk about it for a long time. The series has managed to keep its colorful identity with many consistently good titles and spinoffs. Even if the “save the princess/or whoever from bowser” formula usually stays the same, it’s always wonderful to see how they creatively go about it and keep it fresh and memorable. So yeah, Mario for life, man.

Favourite entry: Sonic 3 & KnucklesLeast favourite entry: Sonic 4 for being such a mediocre game and providing one of my worst final boss experiences in my entire life. I’m not one of those rabid “Classic” purists who thinks sonic with green eyes is sacrilege, but not gonna lie, calling it Sonic 4 really did make it worse for me. And in case anyone’s curious, I have never played 06. First one I played: Either Spinball or Sonic 1. But I didn’t play Sonic 1 much as a kid... the soundtrack and graphics creeped me out for some reason.Most recent one I’ve played: Sonic 3D Blast 5 where I made it to Stage 4, but a platform never formed and I couldn’t beat the game.... and my emulator kept dying because the game was that poorly made. If we wanna go with a legit sonic game tho, Sonic 4.... and I’d honestly rather play S3DB5 again instead. Most nostalgic: Sonic 2. One stage in particular that really brings a smile to my face is Aquatic Ruin Zone. Love that stage, and its theme’s one of my favorite songs in the entire series.Hidden gem: Sonic 3D Blast. And no not the 5th one. The actual legit one, haha. The game’s clunky and has an annoying gimmick... but I still liked it! The soundtrack is one of the best in the entire sonic series too. Underrated entry: Sonic Unleashed I guess. I liked it alot more than other people did.Overall opinion on the series: Sonic The Hedgehog is a series that, despite its inconsistent identity, multiple failures, and a fanbase so devoted it can be a complete joke at times... I will always continue to love it. I just stopped caring how bad the games can be, and grew to appreciate the franchise as a whole and admire the style and charm the series has managed to provide... while also laughing at how bad the games can be, haha. The behind the scenes stuff about the early sonic games are still some of the most fascinating facts out of any video game series I’ve seen, too. So as much as I make fun of Sonic, especially through my art, I merely do it out of a love that won’t really go away. Keep on running, you silly blue rat.

Oh man, I haven’t heard of omgtsn in YEARS. Glad to know he’s still alive. And YEAH it’s like... this one song we thought we knew, ended up having brand new identity and history. I would’ve never even found out if I wasn’t watching that movie on TCM several years ago. And I’ll tell you, my reactions there were about the same as the reactions here, haha. Heck, I wonder if the Hotel Mario OST only consists of public domain remixes? I’d like to give Phillips more credit than that though, but who knows U:
