Canon EOS 250D | 42mm | 1/200s | f/14 | ISO 100 Taken on 03/07/2020. Situated on the mellow hills of Val Tiglione is Montegrosso d'Asti. The origins of this wine village can be traced back to the 12th Century when there was a plague that decimated many people in nearby towns. The survivors managed to escape the plague by taking refuge on a high hill where Montegrosso d'Asti now stands. I took this photo of Montegrosso d'Asti this morning while walking down from Vigliano d'Asti, and I was pleased to capture the village on a hazy day for a change. With it being summer, hazy skies are quite common due to high humidity. It makes for great photography, though. Montegrosso d'Asti is best known for its imposing castle, flanked by two tall towers, that can be seen from a great distance among the vineyard hills. As such, the castle defence was impregnable. It now functions as a winery, so it's worth stopping at this village for wine lovers. 🍷🍷 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲: Montegrosso d'Asti is the third stop on the Asti–Acqui Terme rail line. Due to maintenance and engineering works taking place, replacement bus services have been put in place instead. If that's still the case if (or rather, when) you arrive, catch a replacement bus run by Trenitalia from opposite the bus station that's 100m from Asti railway station on the right. If you're coming from Acqui Terme, wait outside the railway station. Tickets can't be bought on the bus so they must be purchased beforehand. ______________________________________ #italia #italy #montegrosso #ilikeitaly #ig_asti #piedmont #living_destinations #travelandleisure #charmingitaly #italytour #grandtour #italy_photolovers #italy_illife #raw_italy #thehub_piemonte #igersitalia #yallersitalia #ig_piemonte #yallerspiemonte #italy_bestart #estateitaliana #booking #greentravel #ecotourism #expedia #trenitalia #beautifuldestinations #wonderful_places #rsa_rural #vivopiemonte (at Montegrosso d'Asti) https://www.instagram.com/p/CCLSlOdoLAU/?igshid=uqc4akkdtp4t
