Woke up early. Coffee in the room, too early for the hotel breakfast. Off to the tracks. Warm-up, couple of sprints. Getting ready for 7x1K intervals. The first four work well in the target pace of 3:40 min/km. After that the lack of fuel makes it harder to stay within this pace window. Imagine this moment when there are still 300 meters to go, but you want to give up for this round. That’s when I remember why the f**k i got up at 5 am, spent an hour alone in the stadium at sunrise: to get a bit better. A bit faster. A bit stronger. Won’t happen, when I give up 200m before that Kilometer is done. Won’t happen if I end it slow. It only works if I silence the voice in my head, letting me screw all this because it would be so much easier to just not go the distance, to not overcome the nausea, to not all do this. Thing is, I am not doing this for good performance alone. I do it to prove myself that I am still alive. Because there is nothing that makes me feel more alive, than when I kill everything in me, that wants me dead. #monotransformation (at Adi Dassler Sportplatz)
