Thank you, Senator Cory Booker 👏👏👏
I did this the night of the speech, and finished it up right around when he finished. Seemed like a worthy moment to sketch.

Lighting and portrait practice. Was kinda about to give up on this one, but a random couple at the cafe, I was drawing at, were so excited that they asked for my info to draw stuff for them! So I put a little more confidence and effort into finishing it lol!
As the pandemic beats my career to the ground and I sit unemployed at the age of 25, here's what I'm doing instead of letting the existential angst wash over me (it washes over me at least once in two days, I'm not invincible):
- I'm taking three courses on Coursera: two pertaining to educational technology and one about Sustainable Development.
As an aspiring educator, it's necessary to acquaint myself with the junctions of education, technology, policy, philosophy and everything in between. The sustainability one is for my own sake, because I get childlike joy at anything that's got to do with environmental education.
- I'm cultivating better relationships: with social media, my friends and family, my sense of self and my significant other.
There's an unfortunate rise of the right in the world, and with that all liberal and expansive thought has left the discourse as far as my country is concerned. I've lost a lot of friends to this but it's good riddance. I'd rather not be surrounded by people who don't even wince at lynchings of minorities but want to talk of (non-intersectional) feminism.
- I'm learning to speak up again: and learning to rely on myself. It's a slow journey but I'm sure we'll be fine.
Halo to my slightly neglected studyblr. I've been creating consistent content over on my Instagram (look up affogatoarigatou), and I am excited for what's to come.
However I struggle with this notion that social media isn't 'real' work. I have spent hours making icons for my highlights and sorting through my archives but I keep feeling like that was procrastination and my 'real' work needs to be done too because not doing that has consequences.
How do you deal with this as a content creator?
Make way for her majesty.

Prince of nothing, king of no-one. [x]
Wind-down value study before doing other work. Just wanted to see where I could get with different textures and harsh, simple black and white values. Ended up working more on this one than I had planned.
Second pic is a close up for textures!
