Emolly week -a year too late.
Day 1: Coffee Shop. 630 words. Cross-posted to A03 in ???. Human/College AU. Pairing Emily/Molly, Hazbin Hotel. @emolly-week
“Welcome in. The usual, I’m guessing?” Said the woman behind the counter as she noticed a familiar woman enter the coffee shop.
“Oh, darling, you know me so much,” Replied the blonde woman as she adjusted her purse on her shoulder. “Yes, I’ll take my usual order.”
“Coming right up!” Emily replied with a bright smile as she saw Molly pull her card from her wallet, Emily writing down the order she had heard Molly order so many times before. “Glad to see you back here as always, Molly.”
“Of course. You know that this is my favorite place after all,” Molly responded as she went through the familiar motion of swiping her card to pay for her coffee order. “And boy, do I need my drink this week.”
“I’ve had that,” Emily sighed as she began to prepare Molly’s drink. Luckily, the coffee shop was empty, so Emily and Molly could have a conversation. Unfortunately, the shop was so empty that Emily was doing most of the work. “I’ve had plenty of days where I just want to take some espresso and chug it.”
“Have you actually done that?” Molly asked, adjusting the cuffs of her pink sweater around her wrists as she watched Emily do all this work on her drink.
“No. I’m not that crazy. Or desperate. But, with how Adam is having me working, I might as well do it one night.” Emily responded with a little laugh, making fun of her manager and making Molly laugh as well.
“That sounds annoying. And I thought having a lot of homework to do this week was such a big issue,” Molly tucked a strand of her blonde hair behind her ear and out of her blue eyes.
“Oh, god, not the homework. I HATE having so much homework, and it’s all due at ass-o'clock in the morning.” Emily joined in on Molly’s complaining as she finished up the very sugary and sweet coffee order and set it down on the counter.
“Agreed. But, you know, that’s also my bad for being in college and spending all my time and money in a coffee shop with a hot girl who seems to like listening to my rants while making my order,” Molly joked. However, she went quiet after realizing that she had called Emily "hot" right to her face and had complimented her a lot. Molly quickly turned her head away and tried to bury her pink face into her large ponytail.
Emily also went quiet, her hand still clutching Molly’s drink, Emily’s brown cheeks turning pink with blush. Emily was staring at Molly silently, her lips slightly parted in surprise, and her eyes wide.
CRAP! This was awkward!
“Well,” Emily started as she slowly moved the drink closer to Molly while she kept holding it, “You’re not wrong that I like it when you come in here and we just have these talks.”
Molly slowly moved herself so she had removed her hair from her face, and she was looking at Emily again. Things still felt a little awkward, but Molly also felt a little better knowing that Emily agreed with her. “Yeah, well…uh…” Molly stammered a little as she reached her hand out and grabbed her cup.
Molly and Emily’s fingers gently touched as they both held the cup. But it was not that awkward anymore. If anything, it felt nice, since they finally admitted things.
“So…I’ll see you later?” Emily asked after she finally let go of the cup, staring into Molly’s eyes once again.
“Yeah, meet me at the dinner at 6,” Molly replied with a smile as she, too, stared into Emily’s brown eyes before turning and walking out of the coffee shop. Emily watched Molly leave with a whole lot more love.
