Mold making of the upper and lower torso of the Alien Newborn. Alien: Resurrection - 1:18 scale. This is a process I've been using for many years and have been very successful with it. The air sprues are styrene tubing. I build my mold boxes from black matte board. I coat the entire sculpt with a brushed layer of mold material before I begin a pour to negate pockets of air being trapped. Casting duplicates of my new #YellowDiamond #BlueDiamond and #HollyBlueAgate so I can make a mold with 4 of them each. Way faster to #cast them 4 at a time. I'm using #Smoothcast 300 in #moldstar 30 silicone. (at Vancouver Hack Space)

Well that was eventfull! Whipped up a box to make my mold in. Laid clay at the bottom and stuck my 3d printed highway barrier down. Whipped up my blue goo and started pouring. Only to find that i didnt have enough to fill the whole mold! Tragedy 2 struck when i learned that the barrier floated away! Ended up sinking extra clay to displace some silicone and sticking some skewers across the top to keep the barrier point down in the mold.
