Do you have an opinion on how they handle Steven's character? I mean specifically how they are simultaneously making him experience all this deep stuff n grow yet... also wants to bring Lars MCBearbear.... like it feels so out of place to me.
I don’t think it is. Steven is still very much a human child in spite of everything, and small familiar comforts like MC BearBear are important to him, especially now that he’s dealing with all this heavy Gem stuff. I think it’s a good thing that he hasn’t completely outgrown them yet.
Besides, there are plenty of adults (including myself) that still keep dolls and stuffed toys around!

I hope that didn't come across as SU Critical or anything. I just found it a bit odd. I think it's also the jarringness of Connie n Lars n basically everyone changing except him. I wish they would give him some kind of appearance update to visually show growth at some point. Some pink in his hair or something... I understand it's about maintaining "brand" though.

Since it’s been established that Steven’s growth is very slow, I’m sure eventually the Crew will show a slight change in his appearance when there are less pressing matters at hand. Who knows, it might even be a big change and possibly a focal point of a future episode.
(And of course maintaining “brand” could also be part of it.)
