“I love you Dallas,” Amara laughed into the microphone, her voice slightly hoarse from nearly two hours on stage.“Thank you for making tonight unforgettable.”
Sweat clung to Amara’s golden-brown skin as she stood beneath the blinding stage lights, taking in the sea of phone flashlights one last time before the night came to an end.
“Girl, the numbers are rising already!” Nia, Amaras manager ushered her off stage and to the dressing room.
Amara smiled a tired smile.
Crew members congratulated Amara as she walked backstage. The arena was still loud. Still sounded like thirty-thousand people were screaming Amara’s name.
“Don’t forget about the after-party.” Nia looked at Amara, her gaze stern as she handed her an ice cold water.
Amara whines, “I just sang for two straight hours, Nia.” Nia sighed at the girl, her tongue running against her straight teeth. “I know, love, but the team set this one up. Plus, the Dallas Wings will be there.”
Amara doesn’t know if Nia said anything else. After she heard Dallas Wings she couldn’t listen anymore.
Paige would be there. Probably with bitches on her shoulder. Amara hadn’t spoken to her in months, but somehow they always ended up in the same room. It had been that way since college.
But why should I care? Amara thought. After-all, she did have Peyton. She was happy. Wasn’t she?
“Mhm, yeah. Where’s my phone?” Amara dismissed Nia, her voice irritated. She couldn’t help it. Nia nodded her head toward the vanity where Amara’s phone sat.
“I’m gonna change out of this and i’ll be ready.” Nia nods, leaving the room. Amara’s phone flashed on. Her lock screen lit up—a picture of her and Peyton smiling on a beach somewhere in California. Blonde. Funny. Apparently she had a type.
The top message in a sea of hundreds of “Congratulations” and “That show was amazing,” was Paige.
Yo. Rike told me bout ur after party. ima slide.
Amara rolled her eyes, but she couldn’t fight the warmth rolling up her neck onto her cheeks.
cool.
Amara replied, not wanting to talk any further.
Paige.
The name alone was enough to stir up memories Amara had spent months trying to bury.
What started as a no-strings-attached fling in college somehow turned into years of finding their way back to each other. No matter how many times they called it quits, neither of them ever seemed able to let go completely.
“We’re leaving in 20, babes.” Nia snuck her head in through the door. Amara provided her with a nod, shaking the thoughts of Paige out of her head.
Amara’s phone clung from the vanity. it was Peyton. “Hi, baby,” Peyton smiled.
“Hey, love.” Amara smiled back, setting her phone up. “When will you be home. I hate when you tour.” Peyton jutted her lip out.
God, she hated when Peyton did that. She honestly hated when Peyton did anything Paige used to do. Or did anything in general.
Paige would jut her lip out to Amara all the time. Whether it was to keep her from going back to her dorm or to convince her to do some spontaneous shit on a random Tuesday night.
Amara hated it.
She didn’t hate that Paige did it though.
No, God, she loved when Paige did it. She wanted Paige to do it all the time. Just so she could kiss the pout off her face.
She hated when Peyton did it. It wasn’t the same. nothing was the same. Not the sex, not the cooking, not the dates, not the jokes. Nothing. Peyton didn’t even cuddle the same.
“I’ll be home soon, Pey,” Amara sighed, sliding out of her concert outfit. “I gotta go, bye, love.” Amara added, hanging up before even hearing Peytons goodbyes.
By the time Amara stepped out of the dressing room, the oversized tour hoodie had been traded for a charcoal-gray lace-up halter top that hugged her frame, silver eyelets catching the light with every move.
Black leather micro shorts sat high on her hips, paired with glossy knee-high heeled boots that clicked against the floor. A silver cross necklace rested against her chest, layered with delicate chains, while matching bracelets shimmered around her wrist.
Her long braids fell past her shoulders, the top half pulled back to reveal soft glam makeup and glossy lips. She finished the look with a small black shoulder bag, looking every bit the pop star Dallas expected to see walking into the club.
“You look stunning.” Nia smiled at the star. Amara chuckled, doing a little spin before getting in the back of her black, tinted SUV.
Rokwood-a downtown Dallas bar-was littered with people. The second Amara stepped inside, the club swallowed her whole. Bass pounded against her ribs as colored lights skimmed over a sea of moving bodies.
Every table was occupied, every booth overflowing with people laughing over half-empty bottles, and the dance floor looked less like a crowd and more like a single living thing—hands in the air, hips swaying, strangers colliding without a second thought.
The air was thick with perfume, liquor, and the lingering heat of hundreds of bodies, making every breath taste like the night itself.
“We got a VIP section, follow me.” Nia told Amara loudly over the music. They migrated through sweaty and drunk body’s on the dance floor, Amara’s hand placed tightly in Nia’s for her to lead the way.
“There should be a couple bottles on the way up.” Nia said to Amara as soon as they made it. But Amara didn’t hear one word. She was focused on Paige Bueckers sitting right in front of her.
Paige leaned against the booth with one hand tucked into the pocket of her black tailored trousers, looking as if she’d walked out of a campaign shoot instead of into a crowded club.
An oversized white button-down hung loosely over a fitted black tank, the sleeves rolled to her forearms. Crisp white sneakers completed the outfit, along with a silver watch and a simple chain resting against her collarbone.
Her blonde hair was pulled into a messy bun with a few loose strands framing her face, giving her that signature effortlessly put-together look. She wasn’t the loudest person in the room, but somehow every glance seemed to find its way back to her.
“Fuck.” Amara whined to herself. She really didn’t need to see Paige right now.
“Fuck, ma. You get finer every time I see you.” Paige licked her lips, manspreading easily. She was tipsy, she clearly had been here for a while.
Amara bit her cheek, realizing the only open seat was next to Paige. “Saved this seat just for you.” Paige whispered.
Amara slid into the booth without looking at Paige.
Their knees brushed.
She moved hers away first.
It was then that Amara realized their private VIP booth was literally in the back of the club. She couldn’t make a run for the bar even if she wanted to.
“Hey, Paige.” Amara grabbed a shot off the platter, downing it like it was shit. “You don’t sound too happy to see me mama.”
“I’m not, Paige. Every time I even muster a thought that I’m moving on you pop right back up.” Amara spat at her, venom filling her voice.
Paige shrugged. She looked so relaxed. So laid back. So nonchalant. Like she didn’t give a single fuck about what she put Amara through.
And it pissed Amara clean off. “Fuck this.” Amara scoffed, downing another shot like it was water.
Amara’s phone lit up on the table. A text from Peyton.
hows the party going baby? miss you.
Paige didn’t mean to look. She just did. And her grip on her Dirty Shirley tightened. Her eyebrows furrowed. Her nostrils flared.
Amara and Peyton were public already. They had been for a couple months. Paige hated it. She hated scrolling through social media seeing pictures of them.
Amara’s almond shaped nails grabbed her phone, sighing deeply when she noticed Peyton texted her.
“Where’s your girlfriend?” Paige leaned in, taking a long, slow sip from her drink.
“Wouldn’t you like to know.” Amara smirked. The tension between them was so thick. Unfinished business, unsaid words, all in the air.
“I need something stronger.” Amara flagged down the waitress. “Tequila or vodka?”
“Whatever is the strongest.” Amara shrugged. Paige bit her lip, watching Amara’s manicured hands hand the young waitress a hundred dollar bill.
“Damn, sugar mommy.” Paige joked. Amara ignored the blonde, patiently waiting for her drink, tapping her long nails against the table.
“Been waiting on you all night, beautiful. Just for you to ignore me.” Paige’s tongue swept across her lip.
Amara sighed, finally meeting Paige’s eyes. “How’ve you been?” Paige asked. Amara looked down at the untouched shot in front of her before answering.
“Good enough.”
It was a lie. It wasn’t what she wanted to say. It never was.
What she wanted was far more dangerous. She wanted to argue with Paige until they were both breathless. She wanted to ask why she’d texted after months of silence.
Most of all, she wanted to tell Paige everything she’d spent months pretending she didn’t feel.
Paige studied Amara for a bit before taking a sip of her drink. “Still a shitty liar.”
Before Amara could spit out a rebuttal, a waitress slipped into the booth, balancing a tray of drinks between one hand. The bass from the dance floor rattled the glasses as she carefully set Amara’s tequila soda in front of her before disappearing back into the crowd.
Amara wrapped her fingers around the cold glass, grateful for something to ease her nerves. Condensation gathered against her fingertips as she took a long sip, letting the alcohol burn its way down her throat.
Across from her, Paige hadn’t looked away once. Her ice blue eyes tracing every bit of Amara’s face.
Amara’s phone buzzed against the leather booth cushion. The screen lit up.
Don’t be out all night. I miss you already. Love you.
Amara’s thumb hovered over the keyboard before she typed back.
Won’t be long. Love you too.
As she hit send, she looked up. Paige was already looking at her.
Amara slipped her phone into her black purse. Paige twirled the ice in her glass before speaking. “She blowing yo shit up.”
“She worries.” Paige nodded.
“Must be nice.” Paige sucked her teeth. Paige craved any attention from Amara. And she was pissed. She wasn’t giving her any.
Somewhere between the second round of tequila the rest of their groups had drifted away, leaving Amara and Paige tucked into the back corner of the club.
It was quieter there. Still loud enough that they had to lean in to hear each other, but far enough from the dance floor that the world felt smaller.
“You ever think about me?” Paige slurred, eyes fixed on the amber liquid swirling in her glass.
Amara laughed, “You ask the dumbest questions.”
“That ain’t an answer, mama.” Paige smirked. Amara bumped her shoulder against Paige’s, the movement making them both sway on the booth.
“Of course I do, P.” She laughed at herself, words melting together. “All the damn time.”
Paige looked away, biting back a grin she clearly wasn’t trying very hard to hide.
Paige stared at Amara for another second, a crooked smile slowly spreading across her face.
Before she could say anything, the song faded into another one, Back Of The Club by KWN. the bass dropping hard enough to shake the booth beneath them.
The crowd erupted, people rushing toward the center of the dance floor with drinks still in hand. Paige laughed, finishing the last sip in her glass before setting it on the sticky table.
She held out her hand, eyebrows raised. “C’mon,” she said, already half standing. “Quit lookin’ at me like that.” Amara rolled her eyes, unable to hide her smile, and slipped her hand into Paige’s.
Paige tugged gently, weaving them into the sea of bodies until the music swallowed the rest of the conversation.
Paige turned to Amara, an amused smile tugging at the corner of her mouth. She didn’t say anything this time. She didn’t have to.
At first, Amara only swayed, more amused than committed. But with every beat, the tension she’d carried all evening loosened a little more.
Her hips loosened, grinding against Paige in a way all too familiar. Paige sucked in a breath, hands gripping Amara’s waist, fingers looping into the loops of Amara’s shorts.
“You keep that shit up and ima take you outta here.” Paige groaned in Amara’s ear.
Amara giggled, letting loose. Her hand flew to her hair, her hips swayed against Paige’s faster. She felt free.
“You tryna kill me, mama. Fuck.” Paige chuckled. The chorus of the song rang through the club, fitting Paige’s and Amara’s situation all too well.
I wanna get drunk in the back of the club with you.
Amara bent over slightly, her hips and ass moving against Paige’s crotch, her hands finding Paige’s.
Where it’s hot, and it’s wet, but you won’t take your eyes off mine.
Paige spun Amara around, her normal icy blue eyes dark with lust as her pupils dilated.
And them hips stay stuck to my waist, girl, I’ll treat you like a holster.
Paige’s eyes fluttered, she can’t. Amara had a girlfriend. but every fiber in her toned body wanted her too.
“Take me to your place, P.” Amara whispered, fiddling with Paige’s belt loop.
Oh, I wanna get drunk in the back of the club with you
“You got a girl. I’m not a home wrecker.” Paige said with all the restraint she had left. “Fuck her. She doesn’t make me cum. Never has. I don’t love her. I need you.”
“Amara, on my life, if I take you home right now, there’s no more getting rid of me.” Paige’s nostrils flared, ready to risk it all. “I never wanted to get rid of you. Now take me home.”
In the flash of a blink, Amara and Paige were on the way back to the booth to collect their belongings. Amara shot Nia a quick text, fingers moving fast against her keyboard.
im leaving with paige. dont wait up for me. ;)
As Paige led her toward the exit, Amara’s steps slowed. Her phone felt impossibly heavy in the pocket of her jacket, Peyton’s unanswered text lingering in the back of her mind like a song she couldn’t quite shake.
A part of her wondered what would happen if she texted back. If she’d been chasing the wrong person all along. The thought settled in her chest for only a moment before she looked over at Paige. She was already holding the door open, smiling patiently as if she had all the time in the world. No expectations. No pressure. Just waiting.
Amara let out a quiet breath she hadn’t realized she’d been holding. She slipped her phone back into her pocket without looking at it again and walked toward Paige, letting the door fall shut behind them, and with it, the version of the night she’d almost convinced herself to choose.
Paige fished her keys from the pocket of her jacket, the headlights flashing a few rows down the parking lot. Amara glanced at the SUV before looking back at Paige with a grin.
The drive across Dallas was wrapped in a comfortable silence, broken only by the soft hum of the radio and the occasional laugh when one of them remembered something ridiculous from the club.
Neon signs and city lights streaked past the windows, reflecting off the glass in blurred ribbons of gold, blue, and crimson. Amara rested her head against the cool passenger-side window, watching the skyline grow larger as they wound through the nearly empty streets.
Every now and then she’d glance over at Paige, who looked impossibly relaxed with one hand resting on the steering wheel and the other tapping absentmindedly on Amara’s thigh.
It felt strangely peaceful—a sharp contrast to the chaos they’d left behind. By the time Paige turned into the private drive of her downtown penthouse, the city had quieted around them, and for the first time all night, Amara realized she wasn’t thinking about the concert, the club, or the text she’d left unanswered. She was simply present.
“I haven’t fucked anyone since you left me, Mara. Couldn’t even look at any other girl” Paige confessed, the engine of her car silently dying down.
Amara’s breath caught in her throat. They stepped out of Paige's car into the warm halo of the building lights, keys jangling as Paige reached for the lobby door. Amara's hand found hers before they even hit the elevator call button. Paige smiled, low and hungry.
"You ruin me," she whispered against Amara's mouth, and Amara laughed, breathless. "Good," Amara teased, slipping a finger through Paige's belt loop, "I like being ruined."
The elevator doors closed and the space contracted. Lips met again, softer this time, then harder, hands tracing the small of backs and tugging shirts a fraction tighter as they swayed to the elevator's hum.
"Promise me one thing," Paige murmured between kisses, breath hot at Amara's ear. "What's that?" Amara asked, heart hammering.
"Don't stop until we're inside," Paige said, and they both grinned, stealing another prolonged kiss as the elevator climbed, fingers never leaving, the city lights flickering across their flushed faces until the doors opened onto the penthouse floor.
Paige nodded at her neighbor who was walking her dog. “Hurry up, P” Amara whined in Paige’s ear, pressing soft kisses to Paiges neck.
Paige sucked in a breath, unlocking her apartment door with a fumble of her hands.
Paige’s penthouse was a space that felt effortlessly elegant. Floor-to-ceiling windows stretched across the back wall, offering a breathtaking view of downtown Dallas, the skyline glittering against the midnight sky.
Warm recessed lighting softened the sleek black-and-white interior, where polished hardwood floors met oversized cream-colored rugs and low, modern furniture.
A massive sectional sat facing a stone fireplace and an impossibly large television, while shelves lining one wall displayed framed photographs, championship trophies, and a handful of basketballs tucked between neatly stacked books and vinyl records.
The kitchen gleamed beneath hanging pendant lights, its marble island spotless except for a bowl of fresh fruit and an abandoned coffee mug. Despite the luxury surrounding her, the apartment didn’t feel cold or staged.
A hoodie draped over the back of a dining chair, a pair of sneakers rested carelessly by the front door, and a pile of unfolded clothes sat carelessly on the couch.
Amara lingered just inside the doorway, quietly taking it all in. The place was undeniably beautiful, but more than anything, it felt like home, comfortable, lived in, and unmistakably Paige.
Behind Amara, Paige kicked her shoes off and threw her key ring on the coffee table. “Nice place.” Amara turned to face Paige.
Paige smirked lowly. “You see all these surfaces? That balcony?” Paige asked Amara, spinning her around and wrapping her hands around her waist.
Amara nodded, playing with Paige’s fingers. “I’ma fuck you on every single surface tonight. Then i’ma bend you over the balcony and fuck you stupid.” Paige whispered seductively, lips on Amaras neck.
Amara’s eyes fluttered closed at the thought. Paige chuckled as Amara faced her. “What are you waiting on?” Amara tilted her head. That was all the confirmation Paige needed.
She was on Amara in an instant. Lips attacking every crevice and crease of Amara. “Fuck.” Amara whined, hands gripping Paige’s blonde locks.
“I know, baby.” Paige responded, grabbing Amara’s ass and lifting her up to the kitchen counter.
“So beautiful.” Paige groaned into Amara’s neck. “Need this shit offa you. Now” Paige’s voice deepened, desperately grabbing at Amara’s top.
“Careful, this shit was expensive.” Amara whined, removing her top and shorts after. “I’ll buy you more.” Paige replied. Amara shook her head, giggling. She knew Paige would buy her more.
“Missed your mouth.” Amara moaned whilst Paige sucked her neck. “Yeah? missed this pussy.” Paige groaned into Amara.
Paige's hands roamed Amara's body, exploring every curve and dip with a hunger that had been building for too long.
Amara's breath hitched as Paige's lips found their way to her collarbone, leaving a trail of kisses that sent shivers down her spine.
“I need you.” Amara whispered, her voice thick with desire. Amara wrapped her legs around Paige's waist, pulling her closer, their bodies fitting together like pieces of a puzzle.
The kitchen counter creaked under their weight, but neither of them cared, lost in the moment as their passion ignited, ready to consume them both.
“I know, baby. I’ma make you cum ‘til you cry.” Paige’s voice rasped. “Please, P. Can’t wait anymore.” Amara’s brows furrowed.
“Mhm,” Paige hummed, fingers slipping into Amara’s laced panties. “Fuck, she’s swollen. It hurts, hm? I know, baby.” Paige tutted, fingers gently rubbing Amara’s soaked cunt.
“Paige, please. I need you inside me.” Amara whimpered, and Paige obeyed, fingers slipping into Amara easily.
“Oh, fuck.” Amara’s eyes squeezed shut, head thrown back and mouth wide. “shit, so wet for me.”
“All for you, just for you.” Amara babbled, hips bucking into Paige’s fingers. “You close already, hm? Only been a couple months without me and you can’t last no more?” Paige chuckled, fingers moving faster inside of Amara.
“Shut the fuck up.” Amara moaned, chest heaving. Paige smirked, watching Amara James, world famous r&b singer, crumble apart at the work of her fingers.
“I’m so close Paige, don’t stop, don’t you dare stop.” Amara practically screamed at Paige, fingers gripping the edge of the countertop. “I’m right here with you, mama. Cum for me. Let that shit drip down my fingers” Paige bit her lip, soaked from watching Amara.
In a few more thrusts of Paige’s fingers, Amara was cumming all over Paige’s fingers. Paige road her through it all the way, whispering sweet nothings.
“Fuck, I forgot how good you were at that.” Amara muttered when she finally caught her breath. “Bet you did. Yo girl- what was her name? Penelope, penny, peyton? She wasn’t getting you there?” Paige rambled. Amara rolled her eyes, shutting Paige up with a kiss.
Amara pulled the collar of Paige’s shirt, pulling her closer. Paige’s hands instantly landed on Amara’s thighs.
“Take me to your room.” Amara bit her lip at Paige. Without a word, Paige lifted Amara by her thighs, Amara’s legs wrapping around Paige’s waist. Amara let out a yelp, giggling at Paige.
“You’re so fuckin’ beautiful, baby. I’ma make sure you never leave me again after tonight” Paige rambled to Amara, lips attacking Amara’s neck.
Amara let out a choked groan at Paige’s antics, her mind racing. Paige gently kicked her bedroom door open, her foot catching on a loose hoodie. “Oh shit”
“Paige! Don’t drop me!” Amara yelped through laughs. “I ain’t, baby.” Paige shrugged Amara off, tossing the singer onto her queen sized mattress.
“C’mere.” Amara crawled to Paige, unbuckling her belt. “Need to eat you.”
“Shit.” Paige bit her lip, stepping out of her pants. Truth be told, Paige missed this. Missed Amara’s mouth. Her hands. Her everything.
“You’re so wet. All from getting me off?” Amara teased, looking at the large wet patch on Paige’s Calvin Klein boxers.
“Mhm. You should see yourself cumming. Shits so sexy.” Paige’s tongue glided across her lips.
“record it sometime” Amara bit her lip, pulling Paige down on the bed, kissing her collarbone.
“Stop teasing me. I need you, ma.” Paige whined, hips grinding against Amara. “Be patient, P.” Amara’s eyebrows raised, her mouth moving lower by the second. Amara’s tongue teased Paige’s entrance and then flicked back up to her clit
“Aw fuck.” Paige groaned, brows furrowed as she buried her hands into Amara’s hair. “So good at this. You’re such a good girl.”
Amara moaned into Paige at the praise, her tongue moving inside of Paige. “Shit, mama. Been wanting this so bad” Paige gritted through moans, grinding against Amara’s tongue.
“I know, baby.” Amara pulled away to tease, her tongue delving back into Paige. “Tastes so good. Always did” Amara groaned, eating Paige like she hadn’t eaten in days.
The scene was messy and hot. Spit dripping down Paige’s thighs. Skin slapping. Moaning. Everything sounded like a pornography.
“Fuck, I’m close. Don’t stop.” Paige’s jaw went slack, her moans growing louder with every stroke of Amaras tongue. “Yeah? Cum on my tongue, baby. Lemme taste it.” Amara’s eyes went dark, her tongue moving faster.
“Oh fuckkk. Fuck, i’m cumming.” Paige’s thighs shook, her hips going rigid as she came. Amara rode her through it, tongue slowing but not stopping. She only stopped when Paige came to.
“God, you’re so good at that shit.” Paige pulled Amara into a kiss, tasting her juices. Amara giggled, climbing onto Paige. “You’re so fucking gorgeous, ma.” Paige bit her lip, grinding on her bare thighs. “Feel good, huh?”
“So good.” Amara whimpered. “You’re such a slut, getting off on my thigh, hm.” Paige’s eyes glosses over. “Paige, I need you inside me.”
Paige’s look turned smug as she gently pulled Amara off her. “I’ll be back. Keep her wet f’me.” Paige wandered off into her walk in closet.
Amara bit her lip, climbing back against Paige’s headboard.
Amara wondered how she got here. A few hours ago, she’d been convinced the night would end back at her hotel, curled up on the bed with Peyton’s voice filling the room through a late night phone call like it always did after a show.
Instead, she found herself lying in Paige’s bed, naked, wet, and aching fir Paige. City lights spilling through the windows as the reality of the night slowly settled over her. It wasn’t regret that tugged at her chest, nor was it panic.
It was the strange awareness that somewhere between the concert, the club, and the dance floor, she’d stopped following the version of the night she’d planned in favor of one she hadn’t seen coming.
The thought left a faint ache of guilt lingering beneath her ribs, but when she looked over and saw Paige returning with her strap harnessed to her hips, it didn’t feel like a mistake. It just felt unexpected.
“Hurry.” Amara whined at Paige. “I’m coming, mama. Be patient.” Paige chuckled at the girl sprawled on her bed. “Spread them legs for me.”Paige demanded.
Amara did, her legs spreading wide. She always did fold when Paige told her anything. “You missed this dick?” Paige said, Rubbing the strap against Amara’s clit.. Amara could do nothing but nod in response.
“Use your fucking words.” Paige groaned, turning on the vibrator connected to the strap. “‘Course I did. Just hurry up and fuck me.” Amara moaned.
“I am, ma.” Paige’s eyes fluttered, slipping into Amara effortlessly, hips snapping. “Oh, fuck, Paige.” Amara moaned, her head thrown back against the pillows.
“unt unt. What’s my fuckin’ name?” Paige panted, hips slowing. “Daddy,” Amara whined, hands clawing at Paige’s back. “Go faster.”
Paige bit back a smirk, her hips slamming into Amara. “Good girl.” Paige groaned, head snapping down to kiss Amara.
“Pussy so wet. Fuck.” Paige’s eyes furrowed, her hands gripping Amara’s hips hard enough to leave marks.
“You’re so sexy fucked out on my dick like this.” Paige swallowed, sweat beading on her forehead. “Fuck, daddy.” Amaras jaw went slack, head thrown back against the pillows.
“Say that shit again. Louder. Lemme hear you.” Paige groaned. “Daddy, shit.” Amara moaned, chest heaving. “So deep in me.” She added, her hands twisting her hardened nipples. “Been waitin’ to get deep in this pussy. Touched myself just thinkin’ bout it.”
Amara’s moans grew louder, her thighs started to shake. “I-I’m gonna cum. Oh fuck, i’m gonna cum.”
“yea? You gon’ cream on this dick?” Paige’s hips stuttered, a tale-tale sign she was just as close. Amara nodded mindlessly, eyes tearing up at the fullness.
“Me too, ma. Gon’ cum in them guts. Make you have my babies.” Paige babbled, burying the strap deeper into Amara.
“I can’t take it- Wait, slow down.” Amara whined, pressing against Paige’s abdomen. “Move your hands.” Paige swatted. Tears fell down Amara’s cheeks, hands pushing but pulling at the same time.
“I’m not fuckin’ playing with you. Move your hands. Couple months without me and now you can’t take dick?” Paige growled, moving Amara’s hands away.
“Mm mm- fuck I-I’m cumming, daddy.” Amara practically screamed. Paige’s walls were expensive and thick. But Paige was 110% sure her neighbors could hear everything. She wouldn’t be surprised if there was a noise complaint at her door the next morning.
“Yea? I’m right there with you. Cum with me.” Paige moaned. Amara’s restraint peeled away, her ears turning red, her vision blurred as her release took over.
“Aw fuck.”
“Oh my God.”
White hot seeped out of Amara and Paige, mixing together onto Paige’s sheets. “Shit.” Paige panted, head buried in the crook of Amara’s neck.
Paige pulled out slowly causing Amara to wince at the emptiness. Paige unbuckled the harness, tossing it across the room and flopping next to Amara. The room was quiet. Too quiet.
The city outside still buzzed to life somewhere beneath the penthouse windows, but inside, neither of them said a word.
Amara stared at the ceiling, replaying every decision that had led her there. Peyton’s face crept into her mind, followed by the guilt that settled heavily in her chest.
What happened now? Did she go home and pretend tonight never happened? Did she end things with Peyton? Could she even explain why?
Beside her, Paige was asking herself a different set of questions. Was this another one of their almosts?
Would Amara wake up before sunrise, slip out without a goodbye, and disappear from her life all over again? Would Paige reach for her phone later that afternoon only to find her messages undelivered and her number blocked?
Or was this finally the moment they stopped running in opposite directions?Neither of them had the answers. The silence between them was heavy, filled with words they were both too afraid to say aloud.
After what felt like forever, Paige turned her head just enough to glance at Amara. “You thinking?” she asked quietly.
Amara let out a breath that almost sounded like a laugh. “Too much.” Paige nodded. “Yeah,” she whispered. “Me too.”
The silence settled between them again, softer this time. Amara turned onto her side, finding Paige already looking at her. The moonlight spilled through the windows, tracing the curve of Paige’s jaw, and for the first time that night, neither of them looked away.
“I’m tired,” Amara whispered. Paige frowned. “Get some sleep.” Amara shook her head. “Not that kind of tired.”
Her voice cracked just enough to make Paige’s heart sink.
“I’m tired of pretending you don’t matter.” Amara swallowed. “I’m tired of spending months convincing myself I’m over you just to end up right back here.” She let out a shaky laugh. “It’s exhausting.”
Paige’s expression softened, all the confidence she’d worn so easily at the club slipping away.
“You think I haven’t been doing the same thing?” she asked quietly. “Every time I finally start believing I’m done waiting for you,” She looked down at the comforter. “You walk back into my life, and I remember why nobody else ever feels right.”
Amara’s chest tightened. “I tried,” Paige admitted. “I really did. Dates, talking stages… whatever.” She smiled sadly. “I’d always end up comparing them to you, and that wasn’t fair to anybody.”
A tear escaped before Amara could stop it. “Peyton deserves someone who doesn’t hesitate when they say ‘I love you,’” she whispered. “And every time I said it…” Her voice broke. “A part of me wondered why it never felt the way it did with you.” Paige reached across the bed slowly, giving Amara every chance to pull away. She didn’t.
Their fingers intertwined so naturally it felt like muscle memory. Paige rubbed the back of Amara’s hand with her thumb.
“I don’t want to keep finding you every few years,” she said. “I don’t want another almost.” Amara squeezed her hand tighter.
“Then don’t let me go this time.” Paige searched her face, as if making sure she wasn’t dreaming. “Are you sure?” Amara nodded through another tear.
“I’ve spent so much time trying to convince myself I could love somebody the way I love you.” She laughed softly, shaking her head. “Turns out… I can’t.”
Paige closed the distance, resting her forehead against Amara’s. “Good,” she whispered. “Because I don’t want anyone else either.”
Amara’s phone buzzed on Paige’s nightstand with texts from Peyton.
Hey.. why havent u texted back?
u okay?
text me back now
ur with paige? i know ur both in dallas. i saw the blogs. yall were all over each other.
Amara took one look at her phone and decided Peyton and the blogs were tomorrow’s problem.
Right now, she just wanted to be present. Wrapped in Paige’s arms. “I love you.” Paige yawned, eyes closed.
“I love you more.” Amara whispered back, a faint smile on her lips as she drifted off. She was finally at peace. And so was Paige.
