My last flight to Las Vegas was cancelled because of their mistakes and I got abandoned in Chicago, a city I don’t know, from 8pm until my new flight at 10am with a bullshit “voucher” to a hotel that was full. 

When I came back to the airport (which is what the hotel staff said to do) nobody was there, the airlines I was with had closed at 11pm, I ran around trying to find anyone that could help me until I realised there was no hope. Nobody could do anything. So I went to the Hilton, which was the only place I could really safely walk to, and slept in a chair using my luggage as a pillow (not soft) and with it wrapped around me as I was worried someone might take it away. 

Oh and because calls were extremely expensive and I was freaking out I managed to spend £100 calling everyone to tell them what happened, thinking calls were free. I called everyone. I sat in calls for long times to the airline trying to explain what happened whilst every minute was £2. 

I spoke to a robot. And a lady who couldn’t speak English well enough to understand VERY common words. I don’t wanna be rude but. You’re working for an airline company that deals with British flights, an area that speaks mostly English where people phone you when things go wrong. Fucking learn English. She didn’t understand “The hotel is full and I have nowhere to sleep” I had to try make the sentence more simple than it already was and when she finally understood she just started rambling, and I actually couldn’t understand her. So I just said “ok” and hung up. 

I was so stressed the next day, I had violent stomach pains that didn’t end until a few hours into arriving at the house I was staying in.

The flights back went fine but I mean, it was 3 flights. And I had to go back to Chicago. Honestly, I wasn’t ok until I finally landed in London. Even then I was stressed all over again because the only food I could find was crisps and chocolate. I only had 30 minutes at this point, I couldn’t sit down at a restaurant and I couldn’t find any fast food shops on my way to the gate. Didn’t have time to explore.  

I was so hungry I felt sick. Luckily my lovely boyfriend stopped us off at a Greggs, I got to sit in the car park for a while and calm down from feeling like I was going to vomit, actually enjoy his company and then when I felt better go get a small pastie which filled me up enough to last the drive home.
