Hello! So we’re launching a Google Form to see who’d be interesting in participating in the Bang this year. We’ve been discussing some new changes for this year including adjusting word count and a better schedule for writer updates from writers to artists. We know that the 25k min is a bit daunting and if all it does is stress us out then I don’t see the point in keeping it. We want to reach a min that is doable because this is supposed to be fun and especially now (in quarantine times) I think the Bang will be a nice distraction for us all. So if the previous word min was one of the reason you haven’t wanted to participate in previous years let us know! 

We’ll probably leave the google form open for about a week and once we have all the feedback we’ll develop a schedule and let you know when you can start signing-up so please fill it out if you can it’s very short! 

Interest Form

Hello!

 Sign-ups are open but, before that happens, here are some reminders about how the Big Bang will work this year. 

1. You’re more than welcome to sign-up to more than one role. That means you can be a writer AND a beta, an artist AND a beta, and -if you feel up for it- a writer AND an artist. 

2. We will be posting the schedule on here, PLEASE TAKE A LOOK AT IT FIRST BEFORE SIGNING UP. Make sure you’ll have enough time to complete your work by the given deadline. 

3. The minimum word-count for fics this year will be 8k for one-shots and 15k for multi-chaptered fics. You’re more than welcome to go over. The minimums were designed for it to be easy to go over. 

4. Artistic pieces will include: drawings (with traditional means or digital), moodboards, playlists, comic panels, portraits. You name it, you can do it pretty much. 

5. Artists, given our numbers for past years, you’ll have to be up for working with at least 2 fics. You don’t have to make more than one piece for each fic if you don’t want to and, if you’re up for it, can also work with an additional third fic. 

6. Betas, editing includes grammar AND plot lines/holes. Make sure you’re willing to talk with your writer about story while keeping up with your copy editing duties. 

7. Collaborations are back this year! You can co-write a fic with another author and, for the first time, you can co-create a piece with another artist! You can choose someone before-hand or ask us to. We’ll do our best but can’t make any promises in case our numbers are low. 

8. No content is allowed to include NSFW depictions. Explicit content overall is not allowed. (this includes explicit sexual content and extreme depictions of violence; if you’re not sure if you’re infringing this rule, please contact one of the mods)

9. Writers will be posting full works on AO3. If you don’t have an account request one as soon as possible. The Big Bang has their own account where a collection will be made. If you have trouble posting/can’t get an AO3 account please let us know so we can work something out. 

10. The milestones in the schedule are there as suggestions but try to keep up with them so you don’t fall behind. 

11. Groups will be mainly contacting each other through discord so create and account if you haven’t. You can also contact groups through other means if you’d like, just let the mods know what’s going on. 

12. WRITERS you’ll need to send in a synopsis of your fic in your sign-up form so go into this with a pretty good idea of what you want to write. Take this opportunity to write that prompt you always wanted to work on, that AU that’s been bugging you, something on that post that made Some Points. We’ve been having a pretty cool resurgence in the fandom and I’ve seen some great ideas floating around. (As always, credit the OP if you got an idea from their post and let them know).

4. the lightning thief - oh god this is so hard i still love this one i just love the other ones slightly more

3. battle of the labyrinth - a great one, we get rachel throwing the hairbrush, calypso (not hoo calypso she was butchered), and our first percabeth kiss!

2. the last olympian - listen i LOVE this one, there are so many great and amazing moments, but it just can’t top my all time fave

1. the titan’s curse - i love this one so much, bianca and thalia were two of my favorite characters and they played huge roles in this book, and this is a huge turning point for the whole series. the stakes are higher than ever before, and these kids are starting to realize maybe they can’t just be kids anymore

so i’m going 2 say that it’s been a hot minute since i’ve read all of them so i cannot say for sure BUT (also god my takes are so different from the other mods’ ajsdlfsd)

5. battle of the labyrinth - i never rly loved this one? like, i have BIG FEELINGS abt how the end set the tone for TLO and i also loved seeing nico’s progression but it was just. not as interesting 2 me

4. the titan’s curse - idk, i just feel like this is when percy starts to step up. it’s a good middle book. we kinda see how his skills have progressed, we meet other big 3 children, we get to see how percy behaves w annabeth out of the equation.

3. sea of monsters - listen......................i just have a soft spot for this one. grover in a wedding dress! tyson! the chariot races! clarisse’s role in this one was also just *chef’s kiss*

2. the lightning thief - i dunno, maybe i’m just attached. i like first books! i like how rick did this! i like that percy’s like ‘i truthfully could NOT give a fuck about y’all’s drama, i just wanna save my mom.’ giving sally medusa’s head. actually, everything abt the auntie em segment. the complete and utter lack of braincells all around. annabeth playing fetch with cerberus. ugh.

Hopefully, everyone is nice and settled into their groups. Remember, if a member from your team hasn’t reached out by the 16th, let one of the mods know ASAP. 

For those that haven’t joined the served, most of the communication is happening through there and a channel has been made for each team to contact each other. Discord is not mandatory, but it’s very organized and very helpful. 

WRITERS: the first milestone is on the 17th! Again, not mandatory, but it’s a good way to stay on schedule. In order to reach the word minimum, it’s recommended that writers doing one-shots have 1k words down and writers doing multi-chaptered fics have 2k down.
