They never would have expected life to continue beyond their earth and its solar system. But it does, and so too does V1 continue to do what it’s always been doing since its activation: survive. V2 has stressed keeping the sapient killing to a minimum (and they’ve been trying, okay?!), but, well, even a war machine’s minimum is unacceptably high for many, many people. But today they’ve managed! No sapient blood on their hands (they’re pretty sure). Which means they’ve gotten their fuel for the time being, and with nothing else of interest, it’s time for them to get moving.
They’re about to pass a terminal the way they’re running. They’ve actually encountered others before, ones willing to expand the arsenal of weapons they’ve (ahem) acquired. But they aren’t interested in stopping to check this one. Not now.
