just some really specific sal stuff.... involves mentions of suicide and mental illness, as well as abuse, so watch out for that!
set when sal is a young adult!
if anyone is goin through something similar i hope this helps 🖤💚
It began with a good day at first, things felt like they were finally looking up. You dressed nice in clothes you really enjoyed, styling your hair.
Sal gave you a chaste kiss on the lips before the two of you parted ways to continue on through the day. Alas, you did yearn to spend the day with Sal, however professionalism comes first. He had some school and work duties to take care of, which was completely understandable.
Your friends managed to always brighten your day when moments passed on. Light laughter filling the room, as well as an apparent comfortable atmosphere. Along with Sal, they really did aid in helping you recover from multiple mental illnesses. They were your glistening light in times of an abyss of darkness.
Then came the screaming, intertwined and followed by insult after insult. A harsh palm struck your chest and upper arm, the pain stinging against your skin. You couldn’t bear to allow the tears to be visible, so you just allowed it. Your sibling was clinging onto any insult they could spout out. But the worst one leeched in your mind.
“I don’t know how your boyfriend could ever love an ugly freak like you!”
You weren’t really comprehending it clearly. Of course they were just stating that to bother you, right? It couldn’t be correct in any way.
The moment Sal’s house came into view and the car halted to a stop. With no reluctance, you gathered your items and rushed inside.
The house was silent and still when you entered. You stumbled into Sal’s bedroom, exhaling a heavy sigh when you saw Sal resting on his bed. The same monotonous expression crossing his prosthetic. Then, there came his concerned gaze. As always, he could sense your distressed feelings.
“Did something happen? You look a bit shaken up.” Sal immediately arose from his position, pulling you into a warm embrace.
Your muscles relaxed at the contact, a shudder escaping your breath. “Yeah, something kind of, um, happened again.” The words your sibling screeched at you echoed throughout your thoughts, haunting you as if it were some terrifying tale.
He still kept you in his arms, his icy blue gaze now meeting yours. “Is it what I think it is? You know, S/O, this can’t keep happening... I know you act like it doesn’t bother you, but I’m worried to say the least.”
Shaking your head, your fingers found their way into Sal’s messy blue locks. “It really doesn’t affect me anymore. They just said something that really irked me today, and it was relevant to you.”
You could now sense the rage filling Sal. He knew they tried to upset you by bringing up him. It had to be something that really did get to you. “Mind telling me what it is? Of course, if you’re comfortable with it...”
It was all rushing to you now. Salty, burning tears cascaded down your cheeks. The pad of Sal’s thumb caressed them away. “They said they couldn’t understand why you would love a hideous freak such as myself. I know it’s not true, but—”
“That’s bullshit. You are the kindest and most compassionate person I have ever came across. I’m so lucky to have you in my life. You are far from a freak, and not to mention that you’re incredibly attractive. I couldn’t be more fortunate to have you in my life.” Now his hands were balled in fists after proclaiming his adoration for you. He grinded his teeth before gazing away. “I’m beyond pissed at them. It’s not fucking okay at all for them to treat you like this. You are so much better than that.”
You leaned in to kiss Sal, your lips ghosting over the material of his prosthetic. “I know, and I love you more than I could for anyone else. Back then, I would have easily tried to kill myself dwelling on those words. But I have you, you are what binds me to live. To be happy, and I’m forever grateful of that.” The warmth emitting from his body gave you great solace, your sour feelings dissipating over his touch.
His hand rubbed over your spine, lightly massaging your muscles. “I love you. Now, I’m pretty sure it’s a bad idea to get Larry involved, and that they’re your sibling and all, but I really need you to stay here. I can’t risk you being around that, and that asshole really needs to get knocked down a few notches.”
You laughed in the crook of his neck, your nose brushing against Sal’s hair. “I don’t mind anymore. Do whatever the hell you want, just... please stay with me for a bit. I need you.”
For the rest of the day, you and Sal spent it closely together, falling into a soft slumber as your head laid on his torso.
