i found this video just recently and for all the ragging i've done abt hades i never really highlighted how Mediocre it actually is about diversity. and this video rly is is worth watching even outside of the context of hades, i think, both in regards to specific Greek representation and what Diversity and Representation should be in media as a whole.

1. his internet avatar persona is pretty much an antisemitic caricature, and so is the character he plays on smiling friends

3. as previously mentioned, he used to be an active guest on the podcast sleepycabin/sleepycast, where he openly defended shadman and often used racist, anti-gay, and albeist slurs (n word, r slur, and the f and q slur among other). keep in mind these were fully uncensored

4. he also made a bunch of antisemitic jokes and joked about that ‘he has a disturbing amount of knowledge on hitler and ww2’

5. he is also a frequent guests on his close friend Chris o’neil/oneyng let’s play channel oneyplays (the fact that if you search oneyplays on tumblr and get no results is because of staff banned the entire tag due to hate speech concerns, that says a lot) where, guess what, HE STILL REGULARLY USES SLURS HE CANT RECLAIM.

6. speaking of his friends chris, chris still is one of the most famous newgrounds users. his career is based on racist, sexist, homophobic, albeist, and pedophilic cartoons. like he did a sexual parody of harry potter when the actors were still minors and he was an adult

this isnt like private information i had to dig out of dead accounts btw, this is away from like a google search, HOW THE ACTUAL FUCK DID THIS GUY GET A SHOW??? the absolute worst part is that no one has mentioned any of this, and there are so many people who are HAPPY about him getting his own cartoon. i am at an absolute loss of words.

it has been super racist with sunder being an extremely sexual and promiscuous moc and nothing else going for him. like he is so immediately horny for the protag its not even funny. like, there’s supposed to be a stalker in this game, right? sunder feels worse than him at times its that bad. he’s a play on the latino lover trope but, ohhhh SUbVEriING eXpEcTAtions turns out hes Indian. wow. truly changes everything.

had valeria's background be about dating. two siblings. simultaneously. why. why. why. she herself is ok but it keeps coming up in the route, again, and again, and again. i am so fucking uncomfortable. it keeps coming up as if it was a normal thing.

isaac is... weird. he’s meant to be this much older, mentor-ish figure ??? and he keeps trying to psychoanalyze you through the monsters in the dungeons...??? eeehnnn

sawyer is. sawyer is a kid. they cant even drink. the fact that you have Could Honestly Be 40 Yr Old Businessman and 20yo Freshman as love interests in the same game for the same protagonist is super fucking weird. the fact that sawyer is NB doesnt help anything considering how much nb ppl get infantilized. in the final cutscene they look like they’re 12 (and they got whitewashed?). what the fuck.

rowan is whatever. they’re clunky at worst. but its super weird that they write them to, like, not know about technology and be super sheltered even though their grandmother??? had an online presence, apparently?? and their raven has viral videos??? ??? also this ones just a nitpick but for sbdy whos literally never had friends let alone a partner why were they somehow magically (rimshot) a sex god

the only normal one whose route was actually enjoyable was seven. hes ok.

and yall wanna know the worst part?

the antagonist? the stalker who keeps violating all of your boundaries? the ending. the final confrontation is about. helping him through his insecurities. wow. lmao. rofl. im sorry? im sorry??? we’re hugging it out with this weirdo who can’t leave me the fuck alone? really?
