Ok, we just wanted to double check this, but for those who don’t want to read, just know that THE GAME IS SAFE TO PLAY.

We did several tests of our own through multiple different antivirus software (Norton, Webroot, Malwarebytes, and Avast) and all of those scans came back 100% clean!

Out of curiosity though, we ran a few other games from the Ren'Py engine (like DDLC) and the only thing that came up for them was that same “jiangmin virus"  We’re pretty sure it has something to do with the Ren'Py engine’s capacity to mess with game files like DDLC does, and all that does is let the game read your PC name, create special files and later delete those files to help simulate the in-game character’s sentience. It is completely harmless!

We’re glad you asked this though! It was a valid concern, and we hope this relieves you to know you can play without fear~

But yes, we can promise you without a shred of doubt that the game is clean and safe to play!

-Mod InaI’m here to confirm that we collaborated to test on several antiviruses and they all came up clean EXCEPT for TotalVirus, which seems to check several databases for virus flags.What we can gather is that someone on Jiangmin’s site flagged Ren’py files as Trojan Horses because of DDLC’s functions, so Jiangmin thinks ALL games made on the Ren’py engine are malware. Please note that DDLC is not a virus, but it does do some very neat things with its game files.

TL;DR:

The game is safe to play, this seems to just be an error with a misplaced flag in a database Totalvirus uses.

Hat Adult is NOT in the game, and even if she were, you would NOT be allowed to date her.

That’s actually an excellent suggestion, anon, and while we’d love to do it right this instant, the problem is that the game isn’t in a state to simply be re-uploaded.

We can add that disclaimer now, yeah, but no one is going to be able to see it in-game until we release the next public build. And as unfortunate as it is, that’s gonna be A While.

At the end of the day though, we have it plastered literally everywhere else that you can’t date the kids, and if people can’t take a second to do one quick google search about the game to see that, then there isn’t much else we can do.

-Mod InaAdding into this, as one of the two programmers of this game, the game isn’t in a state for re-release because we’ve been working on new main menu options, screens, and features that aren’t finished and still look super rough and aren’t exactly running super nicely yet, either.I do intend on fixing this in the next build with a warning screen on either start-up or a new game start! But it’ll be a while before it gets finished- we have a whole lot to fix and add before we can release in good conscience.. . . If this continues to be a problem or worsens, though, we might not have much choice but to release a very unfinished build to replace our current one.
