Tom's Hardware received a sample of the 8000M series chips and ran a few benchmarks- on a desktop computer. So we don't have actual factual (Hey that rhymed) results, but the performance from the new chips are OK, and better than the current top of the pile 7970M. The chip tested was a 8790M, so maybe the highest-end chip will deliver staggering performance. Not too much to get excited over.
