I feel your spirits, my darlings
I finished the picture I drew on rememberance of my brother Frankie. I miss everyday and even though it's been 7 years it is still hard to believe he not here. The flower on to represents Frankie's personality on the inside and outside, he was a very colorful person.

Chang E and the Jade Rabbits
Mix media - Outline pen + Digital colouring. I love drawing Hanfu/Han Chinese clothing, the ancient Chinese dress.
About Chang E & Jade Rabbits: Chang E is the Chinese goddess of the Moon. She is one of the legends in Chinese mythology. The most well-known story of Chang E is the origin of the Mid-Autumn Moon Festival. Long time ago, there was 10 suns in the sky and scorched the earth, people were dying. Chang E’s husband, Hou Yi, shots down 9 suns and left 1 sun. The Queen of heaven gave Hou Yi an elixir, which would make Hou Yi ascends to heaven and become a god/goddess. However, Hou Yi didn’t want to separate from his wife so he asked her to keep it for him. One of Hou Yi apprentices, Feng Meng, broke into their house while Hou Yi was out hunting. He forced Chang'e to give him the elixir but she refused and drank it herself. She flew towards to heaven and choose the moon as residence because of her love towards her husband, which it is the nearest place to the earth on the heaven. Hou Yi was so grieved that he shouted Chang E’s name to the sky. He saw a figure look like his wife in the Moon. He took Chang E’s favourite food to an altar and offered it as a sacrifice for her. After hearing that Chang E became a goddess, folk people offered sacrifices to Chang E to pray for peace and good luck. Since then, the custom of sacrificing to the moon has been spread among the folklore.
As for Jade Rabbits, there was three immortals who were living in heaven came to the earth. They reincarnated themselves into three poor old people and begged food from a fox, a monkey and a rabbit. Both the fox and monkey gave food to the immortals. However, the rabbit did not have any food. So the rabbit offer itself and jumped into the fire. The immortals were so moved by the rabbit and sent it to the moon to become an immortal jade rabbit. Ever since, the jade rabbit stayed in the Moon Palace to accompany Chang E and pounded immortal medicine for those living in the heaven.
