Hello! I was just wondering if your falin doodle was done in procreate, and if it was, what brush you used to get that glowy effect? Thank you!!
hiyaaa I did draw it on procreate but you can get that glowy effect with most art programs ! what you need to do is duplicate the layer ur drawings on, then go to Gaussian blur and increase it to your liking ( I usually go around 4% - 6% ) Then lower the opacity to whatever feels right. Here’s a quick vid for demonstration lol ..

1, 4, 11, 26! for the character solidifying meme B)
YES, some Qs from the thing, thank ya, friend. You didn’t specify, so I’ll answer w/Merit because he’s been on my mind All Week (I’ll answer w/someone else if you wanted a specific kid tho :0 )
1. How does your character think of their father? What do they hate and love about him? What influence - literal or imagined - did the father have?
...Right out the gate, this is like a personal attack on Merit. I love it.
Merit does have a bit of an... inflated idea of his father Aleron. He knew the man to be sagacious and kind, but that was years ago when Merit was a child. Merit still thinks Aleron is probably one of the smartest people he’s ever known, if a bit stuffy at times, and legitimately thinks Aleron would have taken him out to the mortal realm had he not disappeared, and that whole idea has gotten stuck in Merit’s mind-- of what it would have been like raised in a city, with people all around, with a human family and none of the magic and bonds of the fae world. It’s haunted Merit for 12+ years as he grew into an adult.
All that said and considering that finding his father is Merit’s main goal right now, Aleron certainly did leave an (somewhat imagined) influence on Merit.
4. What type of discipline was your character subjected to at home? Strict? Lenient?
HOO, “at home” a.k.a. in a forest. Fun.
Merit’s mom wasn’t so strict she never let him explore the forest itself beyond her tree, esp since she and her sisters Know the forest in and out, and of course as he grew up and could handle himself more. She was however strict about letting him leave the forest and/or interacting with outsiders.
Merit still liked messing with lost people in the forest growing up however, and later he learned to charm and trick them away from his home or too far in it to survive. This got mixed feelings from his mother since she didn’t want him to such, but he had protected their home by doing so without her help, so. Merit did also of course leave the forest out of curiosity of the town not far outside the woods, but this often got him straight up yelled at.
11. How do they see themselves: as smart, as intelligent, uneducated?
Merit thought he was smart, but knew he had a lot to learn about what the material plane was like, and wanted to learn abt it.
I use past tense there because right now in-campaign he knows that he knows fucking Nothing about the material plane, and this is both exciting and overwhelming for this small tree. Thank god he has friends to help... mostly.
26. What does your character’s home look like? Personal taste? Clothing? Hair? Appearance?
I... I mean... it’s a forest. He lived in a forest. The absolute closest thing to a straight up home he had was his mother’s tree, and the little space he made for himself and the things he collected by the roots of said tree. Said space has a few abandoned crates he has taken and filled with knick-knacks--old clothes he had gotten and since grown out of, colorful jewelry, journals, books, even some coin people tried to pay him with even though he didn’t ask for it. There’s a little space of mismatched blankets and pillows Merit made as a sleeping area. On the branches above, there’s little wood and glass ornaments he tied up for fun after seeing folks in town do the same once.
Personal taste, pfffff... I’m assuming this means
In clothes: Merit has a deep fondness for flowy and/or sheer materials and eye-catching colors and he especially likes vests. He’s also inherited my love for leather boots, though he still prefers if he could just walk around barefoot. He likes gems and jewelry, although feels odd wearing it himself because metal is Weird. He doesn’t like really constricting or heavy things (i.e. really tight corsets* or really frilly dresses)
*Merit would wear things that lace up like a corset in back, but actual boned corsets cinched in? doesn’t sound like a fun time to him.
In hair: I’m assuming this means how he prefers his own hairstyle? For most of his life, Merit’s hair was really long, and while he does still miss braiding it for something to idly do, he does like his hair being chin-length now, it is more manageable.
Appearance: I would gesture at the art I’ve done, but the specific clothes Merit is wearing for Adventuring are not his preferred appearance...? Exactly. I’ve recently talked abt it, but basically the clothes he’s wearing right now are cheaper looking than he’d like, but he’s trying to Blend In™. And his hat, while a Signature of his by this point, is not his favorite thing either-- he’d like to not wear it All the time, but does so to hide his hair (when in bloom) and generally hide his face.
