"yeah... i will write you love letters..." drusilla mumbled, but then her eyes changed into a more serious expression. "to be honest... i want to learn how to read and write to help you with your job. you work a lot, you look tired, and also... if we work together, maybe we'll work faster." she lifted her gaze to stare into his. "...and maybe we'll have more time to spend together..." she murmured. then, her expression went back to the former smiley one. she didn't like to look sensitive in front of him.
"i'd love it if you were the one to teach me. whenever you can. and whenever you're not too tired." the lady kept looking through the paper as if she could understand a single thing, but then stopped and pointed her finger on two words. funny valentine. "i'm pretty sure this is your name, written here. the letters look beautiful, it suits you." she commented, as she dipped the pen in ink and started to try to copy his name on a random paper piece.
He smiled for a quick moment at her response, but then quickly noticed just how serious her expression seemed to be. It was admirable really - Drusilla’s willingness to want to learn and help Valentine with his work was quite inspiring actually. “Is that so? My dear, you really are always the sweetest. You don’t have to do that you know, after all, there’s nothing wrong with a First Lady who simply sits back and admires her husband while he does all the hard work.” he nodded - that was the way things were after all. The idea of spending more time with Drusilla though did catch Valentine’s attention , it’s true that he often wished he had more time to spend with her. Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a farfetched idea after all...Upon seeing her smile return, Valentine couldn’t help but go to her side and gently kissed her cheek. “Ah - so that’s it. You’d like to spend more time together, I should’ve known you had an ulterior motive.” he teased.
“Why, certainly, my dear. Of course I’d love to teach you. Don’t fret over that - you know I’ll always make time for you.” Valentine sounded quite serious about this - he was already mentally thinking about the meetings and things he could move around so that he could have more time to spend with Drusilla in order to help teach her these things. He watched carefully as her fingers made their way along the page and he nodded, “You’re right. Very good, my dear.” he smiled a little more, the way she described things had always been so adorable. To think she would say the letters looked beautiful - what a very Drusilla thing to say. He watched as she started to try to copy the letters. “Here...” he stood behind her and gently took her hand in his, now helping to guide her along with her writing.
